WWZ Year Two
Location - Unknown

The dead press against the barricades of an unknown survivor post. Although the dead decompose at a much slower rate than that of a normal corpse, it is noted that the majority of the infected seen here are no longer "fresh" as it would be put and that the very early stages of decomposition are starting to show via sunken eyes, blackened lips and cheek bones more prominent.

It is unknown to this day what exactly slows the rate of decomposition in solanum infected individuals or why. The ghouls pictured here would have probably taken at least 20 years to decompose to a "broken down" state, and around 25 to 30 years in total to have decomposed fully. Some of the most decomposed specimens thought to have originated from The Great Panic continue to be experimented on to this day in various laboratories around the world.

WWZ Year 1 - The Beginning
Location - South Africa

One of the most haunting images ever taken at the genesis of the war. In the slums of South Africa, a girl, wearing nothing but a hospital nightgown has succumbed to the infection and has risen from the burning ashes of a rubbish dump in of one of south Africans many shanty town slums. It is these slums where "African Rabies" became a popular myth via the media and Phalanx Lie.

Location - Edinburgh, Scotland, The United Kingdom

At a time where the Phalanx lie, African Rabies and the media confused the world, relatively little was unknown about Solanum and what it was doing to infected individuals.

A large group of infected souls are seen here in a stone cellar in a village not far from Scotlands capital city of Edinburgh, where a local farmer was taking infected individuals on behalf of the church and keeping them locked up, as neither the farmer or the people of the church, desperate to heal and cure their loved ones knew the true extent of what the virus was doing to people.

Manta rays are seen swimming near Palmyra Atoll, a small U.S. territory in the South Pacific. After World War Z, the small atoll was infested with invasive coconut tress, rats, and zombies themselves. This environmental disaster was only addressed in the years after the war since all resources were diverted elsewhere instead of this tiny atoll.

Location - Roswell, USA

CCTV footage from a gas station somewhere in rural America shows the ex inhabitants of the small town, recently resurrected wandering aimlessly around the forecourt.

Iceland seen from a patrol ship 10 years after WWZ, is one of the last Zombie 'hot spots' on Earth with regular patrols and drone overflights to monitor the Zed's and prevent those that fall into the sea getting far before being destroyed. There are no Humans on Iceland, and travel there is internationally banned.

At the moment the UN is trying to drum up support for a multinational force to cleanse the island and allow the few surviving Icelanders to go home.

WWZ Year 21 [11years after World V Day]
Location - Sudong - Ri, North Korea

11 years after World Victory Day and the investigations into the North Korean Hills, the tunnel entrances to the large underground bunkers that housed all of the dictatorship ruled countries population is sealed off permanently by a 1/4 of a mile of concrete in each tunnel entrance and a further 10 feet deep concrete surfacing around the entrances of the tunnels to reinforce them.

It took a staggering 11 years to organise the project via world courts and governments due to the heavy debate as to whether or not there were any survivors actually trapped within the confines of the underground cities that lay below. The very first team that had been lead into the hills to scout to the area led by Terry Hughes had found the area to be compleltey abandoned with a complete lack of maintanence on any of the infrastructure. Furthermore, water samples collected from the damp and slowly flooding tunnels contained traces of Solanum. It was unknown whether or not the traces were coming from a locked off area from survivors in an entrance/reception type large open space of the bunker with a further bulkhead ahead, or whether or not there were something in the region of 20 million zombies currently trapped underground waiting in the dark.

After much debate and arguments, it was decided, after a complete lack of any heat signatures from the hillsides, any sign of gasses or signs of ventilation being produced and the complete lack of any maintanence to the entrances, or any communication what so ever to the outside world, even those of a defector or SOS, and 11 years worth of positive solanum test results within the water that the contents of the North Korean hills was nothing but death.

The final nail in the coffin on the matter was hammered home 2 days after Terry Hughes interview with Max Brooks and the decision to fill the entrances with concrete was made when after just over a decade of trying, a recording was finally retrieved from the confines of the North Korean computer systems that had long been shut down and riddled with some of the most complex security systems that were impossible to hack until recently.

The recordings were from an internal surveillance system within the bunkers themselves dated at the beginning of the war. There was no footage to accompany these recordings. Only the audio of countless screams and cries for help, arguing and fighting amongst a sea of an unmistakable and infamous wave of moaning for almost 4 days could be heard.

Further recordings have yet to be discovered.

Because Iceland does not have a standing military. My guess NATO could not assist them either because the NATO members were also dealing with their own outbreaks.

A photograph of the SPP-1, an underwater pistol used by the Soviet Union for their frogmen starting in the mid-1970s. It continued to have use long after the fall of the USSR. During the War, copies of the weapon became widespread as it was used to take out Zeds while underwater.

A illustration of the ASM-DT amphibious rifle, an underwater rifle that has been used by the Russians since the 1990s, much like the SPP-1, copies and duplicates became common during the War as a way to reduce the number of Zed's near shorelines.

Two survivors are seen hiking the mountain trails of Montenegro. The rural areas with rocky waterfalls and creeks served as a natural safe zone for thousands of survivors of this country located in the Balkans.

Additionally, I think the number of survivors must be few, the government is so weakened or even collapsed (so there is the lack of coordination), and well, maybe there is also the lack of willingness (and maybe also supply) to clean a large island with millions of infected. I suppose the infested zones in mainland Europe, Asia, America, and Africa are also prioritized by the post-war world because of the risks they posed to surviving settlements compared to Iceland.

The swelling numbers of the infected in the street contributed to the traffic congestion in major cities, trapping thousands with no other means to escape.

At the time of the Great Panic, the U.S. Navy ordered its Seawolf-class fast attack submarines to be out at sea and rendezvous with other allied navies. It's stealth technology was something the DOD could take their chances on to be abandoned while at dock.

Deployment were classified at the time of the war and were only revealed in the late 2020s. All of the three Seawolf-class submarines survived the war.
