Independence and Separatist Movements of the World
During World War Z, separatist and independence groups around the world formed militias to defend not just to protect themselves but also the ethnic groups they claimed to represent. The chaos and bloodshed from the zombie outbreak as well as the breakdown of law and order allowed these organizations to rise in popularity and in some cases even outright form independent republics. Below is a selection of some of the most notable independence movements most but not all of whom have achieved independence or have yet to attain it though they have substantial followings.

Feel free to start a separate thread for that. I would be glad to contribute. PM me.
Well this is supposed to add photos to the timeline perhaps we can create a Part 2 to the separatist and independence movements as well as information about these nascent nations and/or independence movements.

Batman Vs Superman poster in New York City. After the success of Darren Aronofsky's Batman: Year One, and Wolfgang Peterse's Superman: Flyby in revitalising the DC comics stable it was invertible that fans wanted to see the Dark Knight and the Man of Steel clash on screen. The release date was planned to be March 15th 2013, but the movie never made it to cinemas due to the Great Panic overwhelming the world.

The movie's original reels would be found during the reclamation of the Hollywood during the establishment of the Rockies Safe Zone, however the amount of destruction in the film saw it stamped as 'not broadcast' by the Military and it was shelved. Post-War it would be first shown in LA in 2026.

The Wall across Great Britain separating the UK Safe Zone in Scotland from the rest of the UK. The quarantine wall stood thirty feet high, clad in steel armor plating. Spanning eighty miles, east coast to west with constant patrols, CCTV monitoring, and sensors.

Survivors in China clad in Ming Dynasty armor and armed with traditional ancient Chinese weapons. Due to the strict gun ownership in the former PRC, countless survivors across China raided museums for their weapons and armor for defense against zombies and hostile survivors.

British forces landing in the devastated Glasgow as part of the operation to clear the City as the UK government expanded its Safe Zone. Eventually the Wall would stretch from Newcastle to Gretna Green.

Although the bulk of surviving UK forces would be based in the Scottish Safe Zone, significant ground forces where deployed to keep Ireland (all of it), the Isle of Man, and Isle of Wright Zombie free. The Royal Navy and Army dominated over the Royal Air Force, with conscription brought in to bolster numbers and give survivors something to do.

Abroad the UK managed to keep the Falklands, Gibraltar*, Ascension Isle, Bermuda, St. Helena, and the Pitcairn Isle. Most of the Carabean isles had to be abandoned due to their close nature seeing 'island hopping' zombies. British Indian Ocean Territory became a major Hub for resettlement in the Indian Ocean, with the British and American forces there helping survivors from mainland India, and Africa resettle on Maldives, Seychiles, Mauritius, and similar small isles. Tristan Da Cunha survived for over 5 years until an Cruise Liner grounded in Stoney Bay and spilled hundreds of zombies onto the island. Due to its inhospitable nature, the islanders had time to evac before they where overrun.

*The Battles for Gibraltar would be the subjects of several movies, and documentaries over the years- even the monkeys learned to stone zombies in the head.

I'd like to think the BIOT would not be overrun since it is very far from India and the presence of the USN, USAF, and the British Armed Forces would have kept the zombies at bay.

I am going to edit that- never realised BIOT was so well defended!
It's isolated and well-defended. The only problem the defenders and the civilian contractors would face is when the food and supplies stop coming. I'm not sure if fishing and farming could supply all of them especially if they plan to hold out for a decade or so.

A frame from the trailer of Grand Theft Auto V, planned for a September 2013 release that would never happen. According to surviving Rockstar North employees,
the game was anywhere between 80 to 85% complete before the outbreak.

A poster for the graphic novel series Red Dead Redemption II (2025-present), a prequel to the 2010 game Red Dead Redemption. RDRII was in early development by the time the outbreak began. The cancelled games script was recovered in the late-2010s and was decided for the unreleased game to see new life as a graphic novel. The series is split into two parts, one set in 1899, following Arthur Morgan, a member of the Van Der Linde Gang, after escaping from a botched robbery, must deal with the decline of the Wild West, while surviving against government forces, rival gangs, and conflict within the gang. The planned second part, set in 1907, follows John Marston, the protagonist of the first RDR as attempts to track down members of the Van Der Linde Gang who helped brought upon its demise, as well as lead into the events of the first game.

A pre-war photograph of an old Cold War era bunker in Albania with old Chinese built fighter jets. During WWZ, these bunkers would become convenient hideouts for both survivors and the various gangster and warlord factions in Albania.

A couple of photos from different museums in Europe of artwork being transported out of said museums for safe keeping, circa 2013. Though a lot of artwork in all parts of the world ranging from the Stone Age up until 2013 would saved by them being stored in secure locations. Many others would not be so fortunate, as they either lost, destroyed, or looted. Many art historians consider WWZ to the one worst losses of artwork in the history of mankind.
