I thought the German forces didn't land in America, until late 1945, early 1946? After they dropped the bomb that destroyed Washington.

By 1945, the Axis Powers were strong enough to launch a successful invasion of the U.S. from both the Pacific and Atlantic coasts.
The Nazis' then detonated the first atomic bomb (dubbed the Heisenberg Device) on Washington D.C., forcing the United States to surrender by late 1945. The nuke that destroyed Washington was dropped on December 11, 1945. I think the invasion followed months later. It was around February 1946 when the officer tells Smith and his Army companions that the war was over, the Germans were sending aid to the occupied Americans, all military personnel have to wear the armband, and that Patton shook hands with Goering at West Point.
Only Ike continued fighting the Germans and the Japanese for an unknown amount of time.

Considered to be one the greatest architects of Japanese victory over the United States and Great Britain, Admiral Yamamoto was respected by his allies and enemies alike. He was appointed the Governor-General of the Pacific States. During his time, he ordered the Japanese occupational forces to treat the defeated population of the West Coast kindly with a hearts-and-minds campaign so as to bring the Americans to their side. He also designed the flag of the Japanese Pacific States. Unfortunately with his passing in 1960, the hardline approach of the Imperial Japanese Army took control and resumed a harsh stance against the local population.
