The Ku Klux Klan was originally founded after the War of Secession. The purpose of the order was to maintain white supremacy in the Confederate States of America and dominance of Christianity (hence the use of crosses). They also wore mainly white robes, symbolizing the "ghosts of honorable dead", a reminder of all of the soldiers who sacrificed for the Confederacy. This group mainly stayed in the shadows but eventually came into light when in 1915, the Red Uprising began. This where the Klan first came into the light, assisting in putting down the rebellion through extreme ways such as lynchings and acts of terror against black families, whether that family was affiliated with Reds or not. Support for this organization increased after the Confederacy's defeat in the First Great War, to the point that there were chapters being formed in US states like Maryland and Indiana, the US Klan even had a march on Washington D.C. in 1924, the largest at the time (The record was broken by Dr. Martin Luther King's speech in 1963). The US Klan, despite the US not having as much of a black population, their hate was directed toward Jews, Catholics, Socialists, immigrants, Mormons, and other groups. In fact, many of these "Yankee Klanies" often cooperated with chapters of the Soldier's Circle, who often hold the same beliefs.
Many factions of the Klan had large support for the Freedom Party, to the point that the Imperial Wizard of the Klan in Virginia, personally presented the recently elected President Jake Featherston, who of which gladly excepted. Many members of the Klan joined the Freedom Party Guards and participated in the Population Reduction (it is claimed that Jefferson Pinkard was a Klansman himself, though it is still not confirmed). Despite this, there were many Klan factions who were against the Freedomite government (several of these factions were the US ones mentioned above).
Today there are three different organizations of the Klan. The "Dixie Klan" which advocated for the restoration of the CSA, but are against the ideology of the Freedom Party. The second is referred to as the "Freedom Klan", who also advocate a return of the CSA, but they hold hardcore beliefs in the Freedom Party, often cooperating with Neo-Freedomite groups such as the Sons of Freedom. And lastly, the "Union Klan." The Union Klan advocates for a white Christian America, but not a Confederate America, as they believe the Confederacy is treason, much like the American National Party led by George Lincoln Rockwell. This divide is often referred to as the "Klan Civil War."
