Poster for the 1965 AIP film Rapture: Hell Beneath the Waves (also known as Rapture: Fury of the Deep) starring Vincent Price and Telly Savalas. This production early run of the poster is notable for being a collectors item in part due to the misspelling of Savalas as Sevelas, with few extant versions of this run remaining.

The Special Tree is an anomalous entity found in Gotham Woods. It was first seen by Forest Ranger Jason Todd on February 2, 2020 at 7:30 PM and he reported it to the Gotham Police Department and local vigilante Batman. A police perimeter was set up around the entity, and it was analyzed by the Batman, he found out that the elements from the tree’s sample does not seem to match any known element on Earth. Detective Bullock sarcastically remarked that the tree was from the fictional world of Krypton.

At 10:18, S.H.I.E.L.D. agents attempt a hostile takeover of the site, only to be stopped by Batman who negotiated with the agents to have a joint investigation alongside the GPD. At 11:57 PM, the tree started to glow white and bended itself while police, S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents, reporters, and almost of Batman’s Gotham Knights vigilante group retreated to a safe distance. However, Robin Two, AKA Carrie Kelley was contacted by someone or something to stay near the Special Tree. Batman told Robin Two to go back to the safe zone but Kelley, in a state of possession, ignored his order and tried to touch the tree. Luckily, John Constantine arrived at the scene, and he used his magic to snap her out of it, and dragged her to safety the second before midnight.

Soon after, at 12:00 AM, the tree generated electricity out of itself. Some reporters and police officials fled from the scene, who feared for their lives. Then out of nowhere, a male adult and a young girl who were holding hands was seen teleported out of nowhere. The latter person screamed “Help!” and Constantine tried to reach her before she and the male suddenly disappeared. Many things and figures appeared and disappeared during the event, for example, it was reported that a floating muscled man with a red cape resembling the fictional comic book character Superman appeared, and a 40 feet tall slender humanoid with a siren as his head also appeared, nicknamed “Sirenhead” by the Gotham Gazette.

The 2/22/20 Incident eventually ended when the tree amassed so much energy and imploded out of that reality. The Implosion teleported 6 Department of Technology agents, 7 United Zones of America Army officers, and 1 disguised Anti-Device Association spy from the Deanverse to the Neugalam-verse. The Deanverse residents were taken into custody and further questioned on their nature. Two months after the incident, infamous serial killer, the Joker, murdered three Deanverse residents after they were released by the government into the world. He was stopped by Batman before he would kill all of the Deanverse residents. The Special Tree perimeter was turned into a S.H.I.E.L.D. restricted area and GCP and the Gotham Knights were prohibited from entering the area.
Glad to see Monument Mythos content here, one of my favorite analog horror series alongside Mandela Catalog and Gemini Home Entertainment. I’m going to guess the little girl was Virginia Arnoldson. I‘m also kind of curious about the world depicted here. Seems to be a fusion of the DC and Marvel universes given both Batman and SHIELD exist.

PART SEVEN

The residents of SUBAREA 010-08 are counsellors of fraud, who used their position in life to advise others to commit fraud. Their punishment is being engulfed in a single massive flame, that, unlike much of the other fires seen throughout Inferno, doesn't seem to affect living travellers. Despite this, the Damned can indeed be observed to suffer appropriate burns to all parts of their body.

SUBAREA 010-09 houses the sowers of discord, the people who deliberately broke apart relationships for their own purposes. These relationships seem to range from families all the way up to international relations. They are punished by being dismembered constantly, with any one of their body parts being regularly chopped off by one of the many demons (passive to living travellers) in the subarea.

1647672149563.jpeg

The final group of Damned punished in the Malebolge are the falsifiers, who inhabit SUBAREA 010-10. This tier is an all-out combo of different punishments, disease and injury being the most common. Curiously, with hundreds of years of change since its publication in the 14th century, the original 4 groups described in Dante's account of his travels through Inferno (alchemists, imposters, counterfeiters, and perjurers) have disappeared altogether, and the tier has become a general lumping pile for people who spent their life forging documents for fun.

It is after leaving Subarea 010-10 that a traveller exits the Malebolge. A wall of giants (estimated at 350 meters tall on average) encloses the final area, AREA-011, and any one of them can easily be petitioned by a living traveller to gently lower them down into this frigid tier.

Yep, it is Virginia with Everett!

When this was happening, ALCANTAZAPOCALYPSE occurred in the Deanverse, and it triggered the Neugalam-verse’s tree to activate.

It’s not necessarily a mix of DC and Marvel. I pulled most of my favorite characters and their mythos from the big two into this universe, not all of them. This explains why Superman is fictional in-universe and Batman is real.

Artwork depicting Lena Rosa Mascaro from the popular anime-inspired Vietnamese fantasy military-themed tactical rpg series, “Annals of Mars”.

The setting for these games take place in an alternate version of Earth, during war times of the 20th century on the continent of Nostran and its continental neighbour of Osros. Lena hails from the Fascist Italy-esque Grand Principality of San Vulci, which is the leading nation in an Nostranese alliance system called the “League of Aita”, that is a co-belligerent of the “Alliance of Free Nations” led by the Seventh Belluiren Republic, the Kingdom of Ærein, and the Empire of Zoajing against the “Triumvirate” of the Skoburg Realm, the Union of Motrov, and the Asakoshi Shogunate.

The games are noted for its fantastic gameplay, world building, characters/character designs, story, and blending a complex magical system with 20th century weaponry, vehicles, and tactics (complete with wizards and witches in wwii military fatigues). Several anime and manga series have spawn from this video game franchise to vary degrees of success though the game franchise itself remains popular with gamers and critics.

The series is also known for its mature/realistic and often times dark depictions of war and atrocities with a fictional anthropomorphic race of cat and dog people known as the “Plathos” being an often discriminated/hated group with the Skoburgers even enacting a genocide against them.

The end, at long last... but not the end of the Divine Comedy series.

INFERNO
PART EIGHT

AREA-011, or the Circle of Treachery, the lowest tier of Inferno. It is a gigantic expanse of anomalous ice (which cannot be melted by any means) that constantly remains at an average temperature of -38°C, varying by a few degrees in some spots. A soft wind about 4-5 m/s in speed also blows across the Circle. Thus, living travellers are advised to wear multiple layers of clothing, or use one of the many vehicles scattered throughout the Circle.

This final tier is populated by those who, in life, constantly kept betraying other innocent people. The Damned here are punished by being frozen at any one of multiple levels and in different positions, depending on the severity of their sin. There are 4 main subareas, which will be covered here in quick succession:
  • Caina, for those who betrayed their relatives. Their necks and heads remain above the ice, allowing them to bow and give them some protection from the wind.
  • Antenora, for those who betrayed their country. Their heads are frozen above the ice, but they cannot bow.
  • Ptolomæa, for those who betrayed their guests. They lay flat, stomach-up, in the ice, with only their face sticking out of it. Often, their tears freeze over, and in some cases, even completely block their vision.
  • Judecca, for those who betrayed those superior to them (other high-ranking people, for instance) or their benefactors. This is the worst punishment any Damned can receive in this tier, with their bodies completely frozen in ice and contorted into uncomfortable positions. Interviews with the Damned have proven impossible, so much of the information comes from tours with Guides.
1647871435506.jpeg

In the center of Judecca, and the center of Inferno itself, lies a massive demonic figure, Satan himself.

WARNING: Angering SATAN is NOT recommended. Attempts at freeing SATAN will be met with harsh punishment or immediate execution.

He is extremely tall, estimated at about 130 meters in height. He also has 6 bat-like wings, and 3 faces, believed to be a perversion of the Holy Trinity. Finally, he is trapped in the ice, without any hope of escape whatsoever; any attempt he tries to make fails, with his massive wings freezing the very ice he is trapped in.

Satan is perhaps the most hostile creature in Inferno, audibly or mentally taunting nearly every traveller that comes close to him. In nearly 38.3% of explorations of Inferno by untrained individuals, these taunts have resulted in the person committing suicide, which still leads to them ending up as a Damned in Subarea 009-02, the Wood of the Suicides. This is one of the many reasons why only hardied, mentally stable, and trained professionals are allowed to enter Inferno in the first place.

Behind Satan is the only means of escape from Inferno: by climbing down his back, living travellers pass through the center of Inferno's gravity, and must reverse their orientation. A basic pulley mechanism has been set up through the usage of drones, which means that travellers will only need to climb about 50 meters before reaching the first station for the mechanism, after which there is a new station every 50 km or so. The full climb is an estimated 6,371 kilometers, matching Earth's radius.

But after enduring the long climb, one can proceed into a secondary pocket dimension: PURGATORIO.

Now I'm interested in how Psycho could ever be reworked as a kid-friendly adaptation. The whole thing centers around the investigation of a guy who murders his own mother and adopts her as part of his personality, and there's also the iconic shower murder that tips off an investigation into Norman Bates.

I meant to go more into detail about that, but basically it's revealed at the end that it was made up to scare people away while the Norman standin made off with the money. At least that's the short of it.
