The South didn’t leave the Union and OTL civil war didn’t happen and slavery remained . Eventually after economic collapse due to the boll weevil the south collapsed into a far left revolution. After which would emerge the land of Dixie the world first socialist state. A semi democratic left wing both socially and economically state. What the story of this TL?
This is by far one of the most interesting and unique settings on this thread that I've scene so far. I am kinda curious about the backstory behind the Coalition and Directorate and how this world came about.
Supreme Leader Mark Adams of The American Directorate fleeing from combat with Directorate rebels and the 4th Pacific Peace Keeping Coalition in his “Pimping Doom Wagon”.
Elite Mounted Dragoons, commonly referred to as Mounties, in Tankettes racing to reinforce the now infamous Dropsite Gamma. The dropsite, meant to be the first strike at the heart of the Directorate, would become a total massacre for the Coalition forces and a troubling sign of things to come as the bulk of the peace keepers moved from looting coastal and canal suburbs into Liberty City proper. The Mounted Dragoons would serve valiantly throughout the war and be key to repulsing the invaders after the battle for Liberty City.
Directorate tanks being flanked and overun by Coalition forces on the outskirts of Guadalajara. While Directorate vehicles were superbly designed, the technology in the Directorate and much of the developed world, save for the Antarctic Singularity States, had platued as many Coalition states were closing the gap to technological pararity. Additionally, much of the officer core for Directorate combat forces were Aristocrats given their titles and responsibilities without any prior training. Peace Keepers of the various successor states on the contrary had been forged in the fires of various wars across previous peace keeping campaigns throughout South America along with petty wars between the Escobarian states throughout Asia and North America.
In the year 621 the confusing 4th Pacific Peace Keeping Coalition Initiative's began. What was originally supposed to be a campaign to take back Medellin and other liberation sites from the hords of Counter Revolutionary Pseudo Nations, turned into a full scale invasion of the Directorate due to the meddling of intrests in Austin and Neo Orleans. This is surprising from our modern perspective, since The Directorate was one of the oldest bastions of Escobardom and the strongest claimant to the old United States. While the 4th Coalition’s sacking of Liberty City would ultimately fail, the cowardice of Supreme Leader Adams and much of the Aristocracy would lead to The Directorate temporarily fracturing and even being partially subverted by Gulf comerce cities like Austin and Neo Orleans. The Directorate would reunify; however, the event would leave deep scars in the Nation and be one of first nails in the coffin leading to its demise in 868 AP...
Thanks. The setting is still rather rough around the edges and I'm not sure I want to keep Escobarianism as an ideology/philosophy. The basic premise is this is post apoclyptic world loosely mirroring the dark and middle ages, at least in the Western Hemisphere. I was planning on having other regions of the world be loosely inspired by various collapses. Technology has continued to advance since the collapse - albeit more slowly - and civilization has survived with the caveat that most of the 'civilized' nations are in the Southern Hemisphere or in regions a 21st century observer would consider unstable. This is by far one of the most interesting and unique settings on this thread that I've scene so far. I am kinda curious about the backstory behind the Coalition and Directorate and how this world came about.
