John F. Kennedy, 35th President of the United States (1961-1963). He is well-known for preventing a Doomsday Nuclear War in 1962 along with his brother Robert F. Kennedy during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Both JFK and RFK's actions are credited for buying the world another 21 years before Doomsday occurred on September 25/26, 1983.
Francois Mitterrand, President of France as of 1983. Unfortunately, Mitterrand became one of the casualties of Doomsday as he was not evacuated from Paris on time due to the time of attacks which occurred at dawn in Central European Time.
