Philippines: The Colony and the three renegade countries

No doubt the Wukou will also discover Palau too. And no doubt the Wukou also infest the islands known IOTL as the Spratly Islands in the South China Sea.
Yes, they would...but I think they would or might infest Palau and Spratlies but I think the Wukou could make the Westerners less interested in the East...but if that what you are asking you should ask Ryudrago since my focus is only in the Philippines..

Spratly islands and Palau ITTL should be still free... the Spratly shoudn't be in the interest of my Italy-wank, but Palau maybe yes because I need a gradual interest of Italy towards South Oceania during XVIII century...

However, surely those pirats should be interested to hit everybody cross their waters: Italian and Dutch for first (after all, my Italy here controlled Hong Kong and Hainan and Netherlands most of the Philippines), South Chinese, Japanese, the incoming British and French... and the Spratly could be a good pirate haven. I'm just writing the next chapter, I'm thinking to mention this fact.

The reign of Terror of the Wokou
Mandaya II wanted to improve his relationship with the neighboring countries and so before he rose to the throne, during the rule of his grandfather, Mandaya I, he married a Javanese Princess whose Kingdom is basically a vassal of the Dutch she travelled a long way just to enter the country of Irraya, she needed to pass the Dutch in order to marry Mandaya and so his policies were to make the relationship with the Dutch more friendly as possible.
So when Mandaya II became the King on 1701 he made steps to improve the relationship of Irraya to the Dutch, however, Irraya’s focus is it’s continued allegience with the Kingdom of Joseon to the North which it values because of the shared historical ties between the two countries, Mandaya II is happy that Irraya is still has very popular trading ports in its territories and also because it controls the flow of trade from South East Asia to China.
The people of Irraya remain to have good ties with the people of Java even if the priority of the King of Irraya is to please the Kingdom of Joseon which is plagued by the Wukou which has plagued the seas of both Irraya and Joseon since the time the Tokugawa Shogunate’s destruction which allowed the Wukou to return to the seas ravaging Japan’s neighbors and succesfully planting their bases in East Asia and South East Asia which Irraya and Joseon were not able to stop, the rulers of the two countries decided that maintaining the fight and winning it are all parts of the status quo in the seas of South East Asia and East Asia which made the two kingdoms very paranoid in their security even if nothing really happens to the two countries that repelled the Wokou from their territories.
At this point the people of Irraya are very happy with the rule of Mandaya II although there were periodical floods in the Bannag river which devastated Irraya but the people of Irraya are still happy.
The people of Irraya are known to hate the attacks of Wokou who steal the aid of Irraya to Joseon so many watch towers in the northern coasts of Irraya are made to watch for the Wokou but the Wokou remained on guard wanting to get loot, there were times when the Island group of Batan and Orchid Island were attacked and controlled by Wokou but Irraya were able to regain control of that Island group and expell the Wokou from those islands but the threats and attacks from the Wokou remain, the control of the Wokou in Batan islands is known as the reign of terror of the Wokou.

The Conflict
In the meanwhile in the Philippines is nicely managed by the Dutch and also that the people of Irraya already felt that their land is very stuffed or overpopulated so some of them migrated to the Dutch controlled Luzon to find space to find it very sparsely populated and ready for repopulation, many people from Irraya migrated to the Dutch occupied parts of Luzon or Selurong causing the Philippines to have a more larger Muslim and Pagan minority that speaks Irrayan which is now different in culture to the people in the Dutch occupied Luzon which are majorly Christian but the Irrayans living in the Dutch occupied Luzon or Nueva Castilla don't like the Christians in the Dutch occupied Luzon or Selurong causing much riots between the two peoples in the Dutch occupied Luzon but the people of Irraya who migrated to the Dutch occupied Luzon are very agressive in fighting the people of Dutch Occupied Luzon and because of religion, the Javanese and the other Muslims imported by the Dutch did not have conflict with the Irrayans but the Christianized people of Luzon have conflicts with the people of Selurong and for that reason the Dutch used the people of Irraya as a way to stir discord in order for them take control more of their slice of Luzon and take control of its resources.

The buildings in Manila now resemble that of the dutch and german buildings and also has italian influences...however it was not spared of the riots of the Irrayans who try to stir discord in the colony and the Irrayans always try to vandalize church buildings as well. The Dutch did nothing because they believe that would make their rule in their colony of the Philippines much stronger the conflicts remain even up to 1730.

Mindanao at this point is at peace and Sulu as well is at peace, however Sulu is still ambitioning to get back Palawan and Sabah however now Sabah is now hard to get back because its people are now christian who would not want to be a part of a muslim country, there is also a large population of christian chinese in Sabah as well and the people of Sabah were very loyal of the Dutch and Kalimantan is now very much connected to Sabah wherein the population of Christians in Sabah also spill over to Kalimantan due to the unification of the Philippines to the Dutch East Indies, Aceh, Irraya, Sulu and Maguindanao were currently ignored by the Dutch.
Irraya is focused on defending itself from the Wokou so the conflict in the Dutch contolled Luzon is not their focus and not their aim, the real aim of Mandaya II is to help Joseon against the Wakou who are raiding their coasts and to defend themselves especially the Batan Islands from Wokou who had already occupied the Batan group of islands before which solidified the focus of Irraya against the Wokou.

The people of Irraya still use Saka calendar not Gregorian calendar..I forgot to mention about this but I will use that in the next update.

The Discord
During the reign of Mandaya II the people of Irraya developed a superiority complex against the people of the other parts of Selurong or Luzon which is a part of the Philippines which is now a part of the Dutch East Indies.
However that would cause alot of strife later on since the Irrayans and the other Luzonians now hate each other with a passion however the people of Irraya hate the Wokou more than the people of the Dutch Luzon or the parts of Selurong now under the Dutch.

However, it was the people of Irraya that wanted to torture the westernized Selurongese who they deemed as impure due to them being conquered by the Spanish and the Dutch, the people of Irraya believed that the people of Occupied Selurong are inferior and the people of Irraya are better, the animosity just strengthen in time also the people of the Dutch Luzon also hate the people of Irraya with a passion and for that it would make the lives of the Dutch Selurong in the future a more grimm one....a future unimaginable for the people of the Dutch Selurong.

The people of the Dutch Selurong/Luzon only have a grimm future ahead of them now that Irrayans are making riots against the Christians who they believe are impure and mixed with the western barbarians.

Meanwhile in the same time the Dutch are dealing in their lands with the War of Spanish Succession, the war against the Catholics like the French and the Austrians.

The Wokou and the Sulu Pirate slave raids in the coasts of the Dutch Philippines have worsened and the riots in Dutch controlled Luzon by the Irraya made the lives of the Christians worse.

The Irrayans still use the Saka Calendar which is still used by them in the present, the Saka Calendar has been used to date feasts or celebrations like the worship of the gods of Irrayans.

A Backward Kingdom

In 1710 The people of Irraya were greatful of the new harvests which the people of Irraya believed to be a blessing from their god, although the Wukou remained on attacking the shores of Irraya, causing havock over havock that Mandaya II got so paranoid of the Wukou so he made a new law which was over protective of the people of Irraya causing the Kingdom of Irraya to be cut off from trade for a while and the population of Irraya still remained self sufficient but Irraya has become known as a backward kingdom just like what happened in the reign of Mandaya I, Irraya is spiraling to paranoia and isolated ness for a short time but this caused this Kingdom to be considered a backward Kingdom by the people in the other areas of the world.

However the hostileness of the situation proved really convenient for the people of Irraya because they had became very self sufficient, although Irraya tried to maintain its relationship with Joseon but it was impossible because of the Wokou that had already surrounded the waters of Irraya and they are undefeatable to the coast guards of Irraya who maintained the Sea order there.

The King of Joseon were not blaming the King of Irraya due to him withdrawing support to Joseon but rather gave the King of Irraya a word of encouragement that things would turn out right later on, however both the Kingdoms have different issues to deal with and Irraya had the gold to use in order to sustain itself and make it attractive to fund kingdoms surrounding it and a lot were interested at the gold produced in Irraya which is now hidden in Irraya itself due to Irraya closing itself to the world for a time.

Mandaya II told his advisors

“There is a storm happening in Irraya”

The advisors asked him

“What Storm”

Mandaya II said

"The Wokou had been ravishing our coasts we should concentrate on fighting them rather than our trade."

An Earth Quake in Visayas and a regicide

On 1715, an earthquake hit the middle of the Philippines, in the Visayas happened, the earthquake had a lot of casualties in that area, the people seem to be losing hope on that part of the world because of the destruction caused by the Earthquake and a lot of people were questioning why has it happened to them and why has it has to happen in their area.

Majority of the structures in Visayas were destroyed by the earthquake and it means that the area would have a difficulty in recovering in the later years and due to that many people in the Visayas area are depressed and want some recovery and want the government to help them in having their land recover from the damage of the Earth Quake that ruined every thing in its path so everything was destroyed .

This also meant a victory to the people of Sulu who would try to harvest slaves from the Visayas area again and the slave raiding pirates attempted to harvest slaves in Visayas that is controlled by the dutch and take advantage of the grief of the people in Visayas.

This made the new Sultan Abdul Kiram of the Sulu Sultanate very happy that Visayas was stricken by the calamity because if Visayas is unstable they could harvest many slaves in the Visayaas area, the Sultan partied day and night for a week with the Royal Family of Irraya for a time.
Meanwhile in Irraya, the son of Mandaya II, Rama is planning something else for what is happening to the Kingdom of Irraya, he met the Dutch governor who is offering the transfer of the Dutch occupied Selurong but not Mindoro and Palawan to Rama in exchange of having Mandaya II dethroned and aid to the dutch against the pirates that are now threatening the Dutch rule in Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Palawan, Mindoro and Sabah and he gives the gold that is currently stored in the palace of the Irraya
Rama told the dutch governor of Filipinjen that he would think first before accepting such a deal, this deal would change history Rama said but he is unsure of what he should do about the offer, it is an offer that he could not even refuse but he think silently of what should he do and asked Batala(Nanolay) what he should do, should he accept the offer and terms or reject the offer, however on 1716, Mandaya II died of mysterious causes, the coffers of gold in Irraya went zero and Rama rose as the King or Ari of Irraya as Rama I and the transfer of the Dutch controlled Selurong to Rama happened, apparently, Rama chose to go south rather than his own father's wish for Irraya to go isolationist, however Manila and Tondo would lose their importance now that they are transferred to Irrayan rule and aside from that the Christians living in the Island of Selurong would be treated badly by the rulers of Irraya until the great war.
This land transfer of the Dutch controlled Selurong proved that Rama accepted the Dutch offer on Rama which he denies until the end of his life only discovered by the later archeologists who studied his own life.

A Blood Stained Peace
Rama was a very nice prince, he married an Aceh noblewoman on the mid part of the reign of his own father in order for Acheh to have links with the Kingdom of Irraya, compared to his father, Rama is a very trade oriented person and very much interested in the Dutch traders trading in his country.
It was his wife, Chinta, the noble woman who married Rama is the one that convinced Rama to get rid of his own father, she was a Jezebel in all accounts and she was very vain as well that the people disliked her and she was over spending in her trips and she even visited even Hong Kong to spend the money of her country of adoption in Luxury goods coming from Italy, while making shadow deals with the capitans of the Compagnia Commerciale dell'Atlantico as well in secret while the Kingdom of Irraya was in a shadowy isolationist time, Chinta even married her own son Yumo to a very young japanese Princess named Himeko who grown up to be just like her a scheming woman bent on grabing power and gainig power from her husband.
After the rest of Selurong has regained the Kingdom did not revert to the Tagalog Lakanate as the State centered in Tondo called itself and it called itself Irraya still because Mindoro and Kalamian were still not parts of his domain.
Chinta was happy once her father in law died and she was freed from the rules of the royal family and the isolation of the Kingdom of Irraya and she liked spending more going to different countries especially after her father in law had died, she was evil embodified as a woman and evil turned into a woman as the people of Irraya had said and she was loathed by the people of Irraya due to her cruelty against the poor of Irraya.
In the formerly Dutch Selurong the transfer of land shocked the native people of Dutch Selurong who had been in Spanish and Dutch rule and the people of the formerly Dutch Selurong are now denied of their rights to religion while the Irrayan people there are happy because their homeland is now united but it is the start of the times of trouble for the native people of Dutch Selurong because Irraya wants to make the lives of Christians there a living hell and King Rama I made them pay high amounts of taxes, the Italians were not happy of the land transfer nor the Catholic Japanese and the Chinese Catholics due to the Miniscule minority of Catholics being persecuted although the Protestants as well were persecuted as well and an outcry of Christians were heard but the rulers turned a blind eye, the Italian Company of the Indies in Italy were against the decision of the Dutch to sell the rest of Selurong or Luzon to the Irrayans but the Dutch defended their decision and it was for the Dutch to gain another ally and the Italian Company were against its affiliates who were trying to aid Rama I and his wife's schemes.

The Inversion
On 1745, Rama I had died and his wife was executed by the ministers for plunder and for plotting the death of the previous king before her, she was called as Jezebel by the people due to what she did to the King before Rama I, the death of the Queen of Rama I was not remembered because Chinta was remembered as a harlot not a good queen and it was ordered by Rama I secretly before his death to have her executed after his own death, the death of the Queen was called as an inversion due to the unknown agenda of the King.
The death of Chinta was said to be a way of Rama I to atone for the death of his own father but in the end no one bothered to mourn for Queen Chinta and instead she is believed to be the embodiment of evil so she deserved her death and execution after the death of the Queen and the reign of Rama I was believed to be filled with Scandals
King Yummo II(Yummo) was crowned after the death of the previous Queen of Irraya and King Yummo has questioned the reasoning of the death of his own mother by execution and aside from that Yummo's wife, the new Queen was scared of what will happen to her if she continues to do what she is doing, her children were already grown up at this time and have their own families now and she has no support since her family is just from Tokugawa Nihon.

So, the latest queen of Irraya is a Tokugawa? This induced me to guess in the mid 19th century Irraya approached Japan... it's an option which intrigues me quite much... and to foresee a Far East much more instable which I have in mind right now...

She is a Japanese Princess and related to the Japanese Emperor of Tokugawa Shogunate ruled Japan, she is a member of one of the clans that are cadet lineages of the Yamato House.

Hisahito Yummo, He is a relative of the current King of Irraya, he looks like his ancestor King Hisahito I of Irraya

The Transition
Yummo II reigned from 1745 to 1770 and the reign was filled with the controversy from the former Kings reign due to the acquiring of Southern Selurong, his wife, Himeko was silent the whole time due to her being Powerless and on 1770(1692 Saka) after Yummo II died, the son of Himeko became the King, he is named Hisahito Mandaya, Mandaya is his native name and he assumed the regnal name Hisahito I, known to the Christian Kyushuans and some Italians as Fisafito, in his reign the treatment of the Christians became better although they needed to pay tax just like the muslims do to live in their country as a tribute.

Hisahito is a very merry monarchs he spareheaded the Western Thought and declared himself as the King of the Tagalogs or Lakan or the Tagalog Empire but he preferred to refer himself as the King of Irraya and known to the Europeans as Hisahito de Tagala, in this time the areas disputed between the Spanish and now the Dutch and the Maguindanao where the Manobos lived were ceded to the Sultanate due to treaty with Sultan Abdul Suleiman I of Maguindanao with the exception of the major cities in the area which has Christians causing Northern Maguindanao to be partially controlled by the Dutch this situation lasted till Filipinien was granted independence by the Dutch.

Hisahito was manipulated by the Old Queen Mother that his wife Alona always pleaded her to stop her manipulative ways and to become less involved in the affairs of Irraya or rather the titular Tagalog Lakanate on 1800(1722) the Queen Mother Himeko died in which the Alona, Queen of Irraya was happy and even celebrated her death.

Sibling marriage

After the death of Hisahito on 1820, the son of Hisahito. Mandaya III ruled, however there is one squicky about him, his wife is his sister, yes, his wife had the same mother and father, Alona was quite squicked when the two first shown their love for each other, but the two were able to be married and have children, their mother realized that nothing in their religion is against their sibling marriage
However, Mandaya III was not liked by the people of outside of Irraya because of his incestious marriage, however the incestious marriage produced 6 children, at this time alot of the people in Irraya followed Mandaya III - they married their siblings and cousins because they felt such partners are easy to obtain.

Mandaya the reformer

After the death of Hisahito on 1820, the son of Hisahito. Mandaya III ruled, he planned reforms in Irraya so that it can in the future one of the best countries in Maritime South East Asia.
However, Mandaya III was not liked by the people of outside of Irraya because of his incestious marriage with his sister, Burac however the incestious marriage produced 6 children that were all healthy and very lively, at this time alot of the people in Irraya followed Mandaya III - they married their siblings, uncle/aunts and cousins because they felt such partners are easy to obtain and they found such partners very easy to obtain and have children.
However, the Children of Mandaya and Burac did turn out okay and fine and the incestious marriage was not repeated in the future generations due to the marriage raising eyebows in the foreign courts.
During his life time these were the reforms he made:
-Lessening the Christian taxes
-Improvement of Military
-New laws which were adopted from the westerners
Mandaya III was loved by the people of Irraya that they created a statue of him while still living.
