That's not where she gets her support: rather from the middle and upper classes. GMA is a technocrat with precisely zero charisma, it's her policies that attract support, certainly not her person. This is the perennial political division of the post-Aquino Fifth Republic: trapos backed by the middle and upper classes against populist "civilians" competing for the presidency. In 2004 Poe was running as an Erap proxy without Erap's political experience, I don't know if that got much play at the time.
