Quite, it is going to be hard for him to keep such a major infidelity quiet, every single appointment within the SIS is matched by progressivley more intense security checks. The only why that he would manage it, I feel, is to be a sleeper agent that they soviets are very lucky with.

As head of MI6 though, I think that the Soviets would get an advantage, but not as much as one would assume, being C does not make one immune from being inspected and I don't think that it would take long before people started getting suspicious to his actions.
