Peshwar Lancers Redux: India

1936: Relations between the British Empire and the Austro-German Empire Continued to move forward. Both countries had seen trade increase and both had moved to contain Russia.
Meanwhile the Death of King George V had had a big impact on the Royal Family. The Prince of Wales was now the Next King /Emperor of the country.
The Hawaiian delegation included among its members Miss Kamehameha. She had left the Hawaiian King in her staff's capable hands. Despite the fact that her father had not been feeling to great he had insisted that she leave and her brother the Admiral had insisted that he would ensure that their father was well cared for. He had gotten a Navy Corpsman stationed the residence and a Navy doctor checked out the former Prime Minister three times a week.

Ireland id an independent Kingdom. Hawaii maintains a major intelligence base in the Kingdom and had helped it to rebuild. The Fall cause major damage and the entire road and transportation system had to be rebuilt.

As for England and Wales General Ironsides had made great progress.
A great deal of London had seen restoration. The port on the Irish Sea is totally functioning thanks to supplies provide by Hawaii. There are three rail lines working in the country. One of which goes all the way to the Scotish border. Still things have a long way to go but progress is being made.

The rebuilding of the home island continued. King/Emperor Edward VIII arrived back it the British Isles to become the first Soverign to return to the homeland since the Fall. He was only able to stay for three weeks before he had to return to British India. His Younger brother arrived and remained in the island for the next 3 months.

The King /Emperor's younger brother remained in Great Britain visiting the British subjects descendants who had survived the Fall or who had returned to the homeland. The restoration was now in year 16 of serious reconstruction. There were schools in almost every township and at least 5 regional Hospitals. London's population had grown to nearly 10,000. Buckingham Palace had been restored and the Duke was staying there. Every year a little more of the country was restored. The Hawaiian Exploration ship had provided more information and had helped to restore the connection with Scotland.

The Duke now began a series of visits to Scotland aimed at showing that the Royal Family intended to rebuild that part of the country. Hawaii had helped in having its exploration vessel visit Scotland and help to set up clinic and schools.
Meanwhile in Ireland the country had seen the rebuilding of a railroad system and a modern highway system. The population was growing. Ireland now had a functioning University and one of the best equipped hospitals in Europe. The Fall had meant that a lot of the infrastructure had to be rebuilt. The advantage was that everything was more modern.

Despite other problems the reconstruction of Great Britain moved ahead. Hawaii did what it could to provide needed equipment and assistance. Additional roads and rail links went up and More of London was restored. One benefit that came about the urban blight that had existed was gone. The Fall had destroyed some of the City and the reconstruction resulted in more changes.
Sixty plus years had seen a lot of changes with vegetation restored to an extent. There was a lot more forest lands than there had been.

General Ironside was pushing to complete as much as he could before his term as Commander of the British Isles Military District was over in 1940. He was expected to then retire from the Army in the home island.
There was some manufacturing in the Zone. Most of which was the production of goods to allow the reconstruction to move ahead.
Several workers who were seriously injured were sent to the hospital in Dublin.

New Delhi: The Empire of the Rising Sun's Embassy had open in British India and the British Embassy had open in Tokyo. The British Embassy there had seen a lot of reconstruction and the host government had provided facilities for the construction workers.
The British Embassy was quite large and some said it looked more like a fortified outpost than a Embassy.
Still relations between the two countries had improved. The Hawaiian Ambassador met at least once a week with the Japanese Ambassador in the British Indian Capital. Nothing had been reached about opening full diplomatic relations between the two countries. But tensions between the two were a lot less.

The O'Mally Investigations Agency had been busy doing a records search in New Delehi regarding the time when Mr Bishp was the Ambassador and leading up to his return to Hawaii and his unforunate Assassination. It was part of the huge effort being undertaken by the Agency to unravel the mystery. Sean O'Malley Sr had been talking with his contacts in the Royal Hawaiian Secret Service regarding the movements of the late Ambassador and documents provided to it by the Secretary of State Office (Foreign Affairs). Some new facts had come to light and these were provided to the Admiral.

British India: Relations between the Empire of the Rising Sun and The British Empire continued to improve. Several issues had been resolved and it appeared that the threat to the Philippines had also been solved. It appeared that with a rising amount of trade there was less reason for military confrontation.
The Empire of the Rising Sun had found that it was coming into conflict with the Russian Empire. Russia was providing arms to Chinese rebels.

It appeared that Russian Imperial Forces had clashed with the Empire of the Rising Suns Military patrols in Mongolia and those that dared to enter Siberia. The Russians had supplied a lot of arms to the Chinese insurgents in Northwestern China.
There were reports that Russians had provided modern rifles to the Afghanistan tribesmen near the border with British India. This was considered a threat to the Northwest territory.

The arrival of Miss Kamehameha as a guest at the palace in the Capital of British India lead to talk. Despite the fact that she was related to one of the Royal families of Hawaii and that her father hsd been Prime Minister of that loyal British Ally there were those that objected to any possible marriage of a member of the British Royal Family to a foreigner. There had been some quiet talk within the cabinet on the matter. After all Hawaii was an ally and if the British government was to object to the marriage it could cause a serious breech between the two nations. Queen Mary, the Dowager Queen and members of the Royal Family did speak to Edward about the matter . The King/Emperor had made no decision but he resented others trying to take the choice away from him and the lady in question..

Britain was conducting punitive actions in the Northwest Frontier area Afghanistan border area as payback for raids into the British
India. This had been the largest movement of British Indian Forces since before the fall Major General Alan Brook commanded the 3rd Division and Major General Richie commanded the 5th Indian Mountain Division> Thus nearly 36,000 British and Indian troops were involved in the operation.
