Peshwar Lancers Redux: Empire of the Rising Sun

The Han armed forces likely have a lot of Chinese spies and soldiers willing to surrender to China if given the chance to do it safely.

Perhaps before the reforms approved by the Emperor of the Rising Sun but now the Army is loyal to the Han Government. However, it is true that the Chinese do have a pretty good spy network but Imperial Intelligence and the Secret police have startd to cut into the Chinese ability to get information.

The Han Army ordered the mobilization of all reserves and proceeded to crush a pro-Republic of China demonstration. The Han Government was proceeding to crack down on any demonstrations against the government.

The Han Government, and the Army wanted nothing to do with the Republic of China. They were happy to continue to be associated with the Empire of the Rising Sun, especially since the Empire had turned all of the domestic affairs over to the Han Government. The Imperial Government had begun to allow the Han to set up a Foreign Ministry and the Han had more say over defense now. The result of staying as part of the Associated States with the Empire of the Rising Sun was improved living standards and more employment.

The Han Foreign Minister Chou En Lia made his first overseas visit to the Republic of the Philippines. He was attempting to sign a trade agreement with the country. The Han State wanted to sell its copies of the the Japanese cars to the Philippines as well as pick up trucks.. He was also hoping to get approval for his country to buy rubber products from the British Empire.

The Japanese Emperor was giving the Han nearly as much freedom as Korea. The new Emperor was maintaining a much more liberal policy regarding the Empire. Only in Manchuria was the Empire of the Rising Sun maintaining tight control. This was in fact due to the fact that the Japanese population of Manchuria outnumbered the Chinese population by a considerable amount and the preceived threat from Russia. Th Empire got a lot of resources from Manchuria and thus it stationed some 15 divisions in the country.

Foreign Minister Chou En Lia was hoping that he might get a chance to meet with the Hawaiian Prime Minister when Mr Kamehameha attended a conference on Singapore with Britain, Vietnam, Siam, Netherlands East Indies, Philippines, Australia, New Zealand and the Empire of the Rising Sun.

The Netherlands East Indies continues to be considered a colonial dependency of the Netherlands. However, It has a Colonial legislature which handles domestic legislation. The islands has a European population of 350,000 (as a result of the Fall) and a Eurasian Population of 700,000. The native population consist of Indonesian-Malayan of around 5 million,Chinese of 500,000 and others of 300.000.

The Empire of the Rising Sun officially granted the Han self rule in 1984. Thus Yuan Kai Lin became the first elected President of the Han Republic. There was a ceremony whereby the Viceroy turned over all control to the New ruler. He then departed for Formosa. The amount of Imperial forces in the Han Republic was reduced.

Does Japan retain any reserve powers in Han, or is there any limitation in any area where Japan can overrule them?

Under The decree signed by the Emperor the Han republic was granted total self rule. It was allowed to make agreements with other countries with regard to trade and diplomatic recognition. However, there was two key provisions the Han Republic could not allow any foreign power to set up military bases in Han territory and the Empire of the Rising Sun retained three bases within the Republic. It was also understood that the Han Republic was not to start any war without notification to the Imperial Government.

The Empire of the Rising Sun retained a major military Military base near Shanghai. The Base was both an army and an air Force facility. The Empire of the Rising Sun had supplied the Han Military with 250 T-61 tanks and the Han's Arms factory had produced another 450 of them. The tank was quite similar to the old American M-47 tank and was armed with a 90mm gun. It was no longer in service with the Imperial Army, The Imperial Army now had the T-74 tank which was believed by military experts to be on the order of the German Leopard I tank. It was armed with a 105mm gun and was faster and better armored than the T-61.

The Map of China show the location of the two Major Empire of the Rising Sun Military Facilities. The Army Air Force base currently had stationed 3 divisions of the Imperial Army and 120 combat aircraft.

The Han Republic ordered a massive increase in its military as it was taking on the burden of defending itself from the Republic of China and Mongolia . The Han Army was to expand from five divisions to 12 Divisions and 9 brigades. The plan was to expand the army to 21 divisions by the end of 3 years. Then it would create enough reserves to expand the Army to 35 divisions in a crisis.

Tension seemed to be rising on the border between the Republic of China and the Han Republic. The Han Ministry of Defense ordered an expansion of the Army and the Air Force to meet the possibility of war between the two powers. The Han Air Force had 125 Mitsubishi built F-1 combat aircraft and it was looking to purchase new aircraft that were more powerful.
