President Mosby addressed the nation on a nationwide broadcast carried by the new TV networks and by radio. He wanted to reassure the nation and his calm and soothing manner convey the fact that there was nothing to worry about He stated that he would seek the right candidate to fill the office of Vice President.

President Mosby after his meeting with the Hawaiian Prime Minister called for a meeting of the Japanese , Chinese, British, Americans,Hawaiians to met in the US to discuss the issue of China and its borders, He believed that the issue needed to be dealt with once and for all. China purposed that the meeting take place in Hong Kong while Japan purposed the Philippines. Hawaii offered Guam or Oahu.

The President got the British and Hawaiians to agree to Southern California. Japan and China also agree. The meeting took place near the Salton Seas site . Because it was in the US the President was able to personally meet with everyone and then lobby for a position that was supported by the majority. The result was some progress.

After two weeks an agreement was reached by all parties and the Salton Seas Treaty was signed. It called for the return of Hainan Island to the Republic of China by no latter than December 31,1952(two years earlier) Votes would be held in 4 provinces of the Han Dependency. The vote was to be supervised by Swiss and Swedish governments with observers from the US, Great Britain,Hawaii, Japan and China. In 1948 Senator Harry Truman was the Democrat Party Nominee and A. Stevenson was his running mate. President Mosby did not run and a series of nasty primaries divided the party and allowed a victory by Senator Truman. President Mosby was there for the swearing in but then left for California on an Air Force transport with his wife. The President announced that he was nominating Admiral Forrester Sherman to be the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff

President Truman was still surprised at his victory but he vowed to make the most of his chance to shape the US. He met with the Japanese Foreign Minister to discuss Manchuria. The President seemed in some ways to tilt toward Japan. H approved some arms sales to Japan and had his secretary of State and Commerce meet with the Japanese to work on a trade agreement. The US opened a Consulate in Shanghai which was in Han controlled China.

The President was the first Liberal Democrat Party Member to hold the office since President Alfred E Smith had won the office.Douglas MacArthur had come close but had lost his chance. Harry Truman remembered meting the late President and his advice. Smith had wanted a complete break from the past and to connect with the people. The President faced domestic policy challenges as well as challenges over Seas. He had connected with the Polish people He had met the new British Prime Minister and had connected with him but the Labour Party had fallen from power in the Late summer of 1949 and Winston Churchill had returned to office but he was expected to retire in 1950 turning the PM job to Anthony Eden.

President Truman seemed to be tilting toward Japan as his advisors saw an increased threat to the region from Russia. The US expanded its trade and security agreements with the Japanese and also moved to assist the Republic of China . The Seventh Fleet was created with a task Force bases in the Philippines and another in San Diego,California. Based in the Philippines was the new fleet carrier USS Essex, Large Cruiser Alaska, Heavy cruiser Baltimore, Light cruisers Springfield and Providence 8 destroyers and 2 submarines.

President Truman ordered additional naval and air power to the Philippines. Arriving was the giant Fleet carrier the USS Midway with another heavy cruiser, 2 light cruisers and 8 destroyers, a sub tender and 2 more submarines, and a fleet oilier. Twelve B-29a arrived at Clark Air Force Base.

In the Late Summer of 1951 retired General Dwight D Eisenhower agreed to seek the Nationalist-Republican Nomination . Former President Mosby was also interested in seeking the nomination but some hoped that he would join Eisenhower on the dream ticket.

President Truman announced that he would not seek another term but his Vice President would seek the party's nomination for President..
The Nationalist convinced Mosby to join the ticket. Thus it would be Eisenhower- Mosby vs the Liberal Democrat Ticket. To no ones surprise the Nationalist-Republicans won an overwhelming victory.

The election of 1952 saw the US swing back to the Nationalist-Republican Alliance. The new President had the benefit of having his party control the Congress. In addition Vice President Mosby had the experience of having served as a member of the House, Vice President and then President for nearly 2 years. So he would be able to help President Eisenhower in his relationship with the Congress and in cabinet choices.
Among the concerns of the new administration was the situtation in Asia between the Republic of China, Han Kingdom, Empire of Japan and Russia; Europe; Russia and its pressure on the Ukrain and finally the Middle East.

The Joint Chiefs were quite concern that Russian intervention on the side of the Han Kingdom could lead to a wider war in Asia. Japanese forces had crossed the border to help with the evacuation from Peking. It was only a matter of time before Russian forces engaged Japanese and Chinese forces.
