President Hoover signed the Trade agreement with Hawaii in 1938> Hawaii investment in the American Weapons industry had grown over the years.
 
In 1940 President Hoover had decided not to run for a third term of office. Reportedly Senator Robert F Taft was seeking the Republican Presidential Nomination. He was Running against Gov Franklin D Roosevelt D- NY.
 
The US government made arrangements to have members of the US secret service aboard the ocean Liner to protect the life of the Hawaiian Prime Minister and his family. Six members of the Royal Hawaiian Navy were also allowed aboard. They included a doctor 2 nurses LtJG and 2 sailors
 
Hawaii's relationship with the United States had now seemed to hit some bumps. The Hawaiians did not agree with the FDR administration regarding its policy on China. Hawaii had been with Britain trying to encourage a peaceful relationship between the Republic of China and the Empire of the Rising Sun. The Americans seemed to be tilted heavily in favor of China and risked undermining a peaceful movement forward. Hawaii's Secretary of State had a full scale blow up with the American Secretary of State
 
Scientist In Western Canada and the US were taking daily readings at sites to gather additional data. this data was transmitted to Fort Louisburg in Eastern Canada for processing. It was then transmitted to Hawaii. London and NewDelhi.
 
The election of President Taft and Vice President Theodore Roosevelt Jr was a signal by the American electorate the the Americans did not want a war. There were still problems that needed to be dealt with at home.
 
President Taft haf visited the Hawaiian Islands for the first time. He was attempting to build up a spirit of co-operation between America and the Kingdom of Hawaii. One of the placed that he visited in Hawaii was the International Weather and other Studies Agency. This group was studying the earth's climate and the effect of Earthquakes and volcanic eruptions on it. None of the countries had any desire to see another "Fall type " Event. A massive volcanic Eruption could be quite dangerous . It could change the geography of North America or many other places and plunge the Earth into a winter that might last a decade or two.
 
President Taft and Prime Minister Lapaka attended a meeting of the Agency. The President was aking lots of questions as he was becoming convinced that any chance that the threat was real needed to be taken seriously. The American President pledge co-operation and called upon the Agency to study the issue seriously.
 
President Taft was looking at seeking a second term as President as the election of 1952 was approaching. His Vice President Theodore Roosevelt Jr had upon the advice of his dotor informed the President that he would not be running . The Vice President had had Heart Surgery in Hawaii before he had ran the last time and he was advised that he might die in office if he ran.
 
James J Walker II son of the former Mayor of the City of New York was one of the possible candidates of the Liberal Democrat Party. Born in 1916 he was 30 years old when his father had past away. He had all of the same charm as his father but appeared to have learned a thing or two. He had graduated from college in New York and then attended Cornell University Law School. He graduated served on the City Council and then as a member of Congress. He served two terns before being elected as the Mayor of New York City. He was a possible Candidate for President

Senator Hubert Humphrey D-MN had been asked to be Mayor Walker's running mate. The senator had just been elected in 1948 so he would still have two years left. President Taft was seeking a running mate and he had several choices including a young Senator from California Richard Nixon.
 
The election of Mayor Walker and Senator Humphrey of the Social Democrat Party sent shock waves through the Nationalist Party. The Nationalist was considered the more conservative party and traced its roots to those that had overthrown the traitors who had sold out to the Mexican dictator.
 
Since 1940 the government of Hawaii or Hawaiian companies had been buying into American companies that were involved in developing new technology. The Royal Hawaiian Aircraft Corporation had purchased 25 percent of the stock of two aircraft companies. They were Curtis Aviation and Douglas Aircraft. It was the DC-3 design that caught the interest of the Hawaiians and they began to provide additional funding and press for the construction of actual aircraft. Thus the first of five test aircraft rolled out of the production facilities in 1953 and in 1954 orders began to pour in for as many as 200 planes.
