Actually Alfred E Smith was born in 1873 . That was 5 years before the Fall. In this time line he and his parents escaped the Fall as they were on a trip far into western North Carolina high up in the mountains near the town of Franklin , NC. They were in Fact in Tennessee visiting some friend when the Fall took place. In1891 at the age of 18 he was part of a group that moved back to New York where he became involved in the rebuilding of the city. He served as an Alderman and latter as a member of the NY state Legislature. He latter served as Majority leader in the state House and then as Speaker. He then won the governorship running as a Nationalist Democrat. The Nationalist Democrats were the emergence of a National Democrat party built upon the Party that had opposed the Treason with Mexico and a belief in new ideas. The American President was due to arrive by sea in Honolulu for a week long stay. The President wanted to discuss a lot of issues with the Hawaiian Prime Minister. George was expected to stop at Ottawa with the Family on his way home to Hawaii. The Canadian Prime Minister wanted to discuss Fort Louisburg.

Hawaii's former Prime Minister received a warm welcome from the Canadian leader.George had continued to follow a line of support and compassion for the people of Canada which had started with the Administration of Walter Gibson as Prime Minister and had continued for every Prime Minister since. George's Father had played a big role in the reconstruction of Canada and Fort Louisburg project continued to be one of careful study of the climate. Hawaii had transferred responsibility to an Agency for this study. George was on the board of directors for the Agency and was one of the people who had to approve projects. He was now also the National Security Advisor to the King of Hawaii and thus continued to play a key role.

President Alfred E Smith made his offical visit to Hawaii on a passenger ship owned by the US Navy. He preferred to travel by ship rather than by airship. He arrived in Hawaii and was greeted by the King and Prime Minister. There was to be a formal dinner at the Palace and a lunch at the US Embassy.

President Alfred E Smith would be leading a delegation to Hawaii and the Canadian Prime Minister Randal Mackenzie would be coming by air ship with a group from Canada.

Attending the Wedding in Brazil were President Smith, Herbert Hoover, Theodore Roosevelt II Senator Robert Taft, Canada's Governor General and Canadian Prime Minister Mackenzie, from Mexico the Governor General and the Mexican Speaker of the House.

Herbert Hoover had won the Republican Presidential Nomination. The democrats had not held their convention to determine who would replace President Smith should their party win. One of the people running to get the nomination was Franklin D Roosevelt. Despite being a cousin of Teddy Roosevelt he belonged to the opposition party and was Governor of NY. While he could deliver a stirring speech some believed that the nomination could slip from his hands.
People were ready for a change and Herbert Hoover would be a change.

Herbert Hoover won the election in November of 1936 bringing to an end 8 years of National Democrat Party control of the Presidency. President Smith was to leave the Presidency in March of 1937 but a national disaster took place in December of 1936 in the Pacific North West. Mount St Helen's exploded creating a disaster. President Smith agreed to allow the incoming President to take office earlier. President-elect Hoover would begin making decisions with President Smith in January 1937 and would be sworn in on January 20th, 1937.

Data from Volcanic eruption and quake in the US were sent to the Hawaiian Islands where the People at the University of Hawaii compared it to past one. The effect on the Weather was also monitored and it appeared that there was a colder and snowier winter both that winter and for the next two. Clearly showing an impact of volcanic ash on the weather pattern in the US, Canada Europe and Northern Asia.

President Hoover received a detailed report from Hawaii 9 months after the eruption. The report gave the President a look at what hat happen and the response. It also gave an indication as to what the experts felt would be the impact on the regions weather. The President was informed by the director of the organization that it would continue to study the matter and keep him aware of any problems.

While the overall effects of the Fall were fading the Volcanic eruption had proven that Mother Nature could cause problems with weather. There was a colder and snowier winter after it happen and a slow gradual improvement in each of the next two years. President Hoover was working with the Canadian Prime Minister to insure that problems were dealt with as a joint effort by both countries.

The Prime Minister of Mexico signed an agreement with the United states regarding trade and the security of the border Region. It was part of an effort to finally move past the problems of the last century and Mexico's invasion of the US.

President Hoover had his Secretary of State inform Spain and Mexico that the US would maintain forces in Puerto Rico for a limited amount of time. He expressed a desire that the problem be resolved quickly. Spain deployed 6,000 troops on the island and Neuva Granada built its forces up to 9,000. The US and Brazil both had 5,000 troops on the island. Cuba offered to send 4,500 troops to the island to help restore order

President Hoover had two meetings with the Canadian Prime Minister. Two important issues were on the top of the list -Impact of the Volcano eruption on the climate and trade. A third issue was working together to continue to resolve issues from THE FALL.
The President also traveled to Texas to meet with the Mexican Prime Minister to discus some problems effecting both countries.
