William Howard Taft was TR's Vice President but the President had some doubts about supporting him for office. There was some talk that he might support another veteran of the war but nothing was decided.

It appeared that there would be a battle for the nomination for President. So far TR had not made his will known but whoever got his endorsement would clearly have an advantage. Meanwhile the President was acting as host to his honored guest, the King and Queen of Hawaii.

President Roosevelt Called Prime Minister Wilcox to wish him well on taking over for William Kamehameha. The Prime Minster thaked him and agreed to come to the US for an offical visit in 3 months. The President had convinced Leonard Wood to run for President and would support him in the primaries and at the convention.

Canada's Prime Minister was expected to visit Hawaii to discuss relations between the two nations and the Fort Louisburg facility in Eastern Canada.

Leonard Wood was elected President of the United States in November 1908 and was sworn in March of 1909. Teddy was quite happy that his friend had been elected. He was however very concern with the situation in Hawaii. He regarded the Liberal Party of Hawaii as an undependable partner.

President Wood pushed through a program to rebuild the US Navy. It was a continuation of a policy started by President Roosevelt.

President Wood made a visit to Canada in 1909, Mexico in 1910 and Hawaii in 1911, Former President Roosevelt visited Brazil and Hawaii several times after leaving office.

The Royal Hawaiian Intelligence agency met with the American Secret service and provide evidence of a possible plot to kill President Wood and former President Theodore Roosevelt.

Teddy had run for President in 1920 and had been elected once again to the highest office. However his doctor recommended strongly against him running for re-election as his health was questionable. Roosevelt had opposed Senator Harding for President and it appeared that Calvin Coolidge would be elected.

Teddy's last term as President saw him considerate on rebuilding the US Navy. The Navy Had grown under his first two terms in office and under President Wood. Now he was insuring that America would be strong enough to protect its territory.

In 1928 Alfred E Smith, the Former Governor of NY entered the race for President he was running against Calvin Coolidge who had succeeded TR as President. Gov Smith led the National Democrat Party ticket.

Could you remind me of the differences between the National Democratic Party and OTL's Democratic Party and TTL Post-Fall Democratic Party (besides the stand against Mexico's interference)?

How did Alfred E. Smith survived the Fall? He was a kid in New York City at that time.
