Peshawar Lancers Redux: Kingdom of Hawaii Revised

George Kamehameha had reached agreements with his Australian and New Zealand partners and now he had hammered out an agreement with the Canadians and the Americans. He was attempting to get everyone on the same page while preventing an arms race. The Agreement with the Australians,Americans and Canadians had meant that all of the countries wuld be using the same weapons. The 5"/38 had become the standard weapon for destroyers meaning that the Royal Australian Navy and the Royal Hawaiian Navy would share the same weapon as would the Americans. This would reduce cost and allow greater capacity for inter-naval co-operation.

The Royal Hawaiian Navy was reporting to the Prime Minister the construction of the American North Carolina Class Battleship and was urging funds to revise the design of the new Hawaiian Battleship. The Hawaiians were now considering a design which would be very close to the American design dropping any plans for a 13.5 inch gun or 14 inch gun design battleship. It had as a stop gap measure finally approved a light battlecruiser or Large Cruiser to be armed with a newly designed 12'/50 GUN.

In 1938 the Armed Services committee of the House passed a bill authorizing construction of two Light Battle Cruisers. Tenatively named the Hawaii and The Guam. The Hawaii was to be built in Hawaii and it would be the first large warship built in country in more than a decade. The Guam was to be built in Australia and the Australians were considering building an additional ship of this class for the Royal Australian Navy..

The yard in Pearl Harbor began to quire materials to build the ship. The shipyard in Australia also began to work on the vessel with the Royal Hawaiian Navy coordinating the work. The Australians were buying enough material for three ships. Plans were to start on the Australian ship no sooner than 6 months after work had begun on the Guam. The 12"/50 guns were being made in Hawaii and would be shipped to Australia.
