The Kingdom of the Rising Sun was now beginning to spend a lot of money to advance technology. It was now selling cheap transistor radios and trying to improve a lot of industry. While it was very concern about the possibility of natural threats which could casue a lot of damage and possibly another Ice Age it was aware that Russia could at any time start more problems for it.
The Kingdom of the Rising Sun and the Republic of China were holding important talks in Hong Kong. As a result The Kingdom and the Republic were unable to make the talks in Hawaii. However, The Prime Minister was expected to visit Hawaii in three months and discuss further co-operation and steps that could be taken.
Hawai's Prime Minister seemed to be taking China side in disputed .Previous administrations had been even handed and this caused the Empire of the Rising Sun concern. In talks with Hawaii's foreign Minister it was clear that the shift was coming from the Prime Minister. The Imperial Ambassador delivered a letter to Hawaii's King on the matter and he also had a meeting with the minority leader
The Former Hawaiian Prime Minister George W Kamehameha and his party were greeted at the airport in Tokyo by an honor guard and the Prime Minister. All of the stops were pulled out. The former Prime Minister returned the warm greetings and extended the same from the King of Hawaii. The Hawaiian delegation was the guest of his Majesty. Talks were held with the Prime Minister and the Emperor had a dinner for the party. The next day he met with his imperial Majesty and the Prime Minister. A lot of the damage that had been done was repaired. The party stayed another day in Japan and then left for the Republic of China.
Christopher Kamehameha II was not the only researcher that was looking at the records from the past. Hosi Numari was a researcher at the University of Toyko and he was looking at the records of the Empire of the Rising Sun. He and thress assistants were looking at neary 70 years worth of Government and Military reports. He had often ended up on the phone with his Hawaiian counterpart to discus what they had foun. From what he had read the Imperial Government was forced by the Fall to evacuate the northern most island in Japan. It was imperative that the Government find land to transport the population. Thus Japan went to war with the Chinese Empire that was already suffering the effects both of The Fall and of the instability caused by the Taiping Rebellion of the previous decade. . Japan used its well trained Army and Navy to seize the Islands of Formsa and Hainan. and to land on the mainland.
For Japan realized that it must take steps to assure the survival of the Japanese People. It now called itself the Empire of the Rising Sun and it sought to control lands which would allow it to relocate its population to a safe area. It also knew that it must control resources so as to continue the growth of the economy and replace those areas that would become uninhabitable. China was Ripe for a strong country to take over. It was already in poor shape do to the Taiping Rebellion and now the Fall had created Chaos. The Chinese Imperial government was unable to cope.
The British in Hong Kong urged the European population of British settlers to move from other parts of China to the Royal Crown Colony of Hong Kong. Its governor General had British and Indian Army forces to defend the colony but could use more.

The Empire of the Rising Sun was determined to survive. Its army was well equipped and knew that failure might well mean the death of untold numbers of Japanese people. Korea was useless no what they needed was the island of Formosa and Hainan. Carried aboad ships the Imperial Army landed on the island and moved to crush all resistance. The native people had been treated poorly by the Chinese so they were willing to help. The conquest took less than a month and Japanese settlers were soon arriving. Meanwhile the Imperial Army had seized Hainan Island killing all who stood in their way. There were tens of thousands of Japanese to settle and time was running out fast.
No sooner did the Imperial Army take the islands than a decision was made to take control of the mainland. The Empire would need the resources to survive the Fall.
