Personal Union Between France and Spain

Let's say that Louis XIV fully wins the War of Spanish Succession and France and Spain are united under one monarch? What would this union look like? What if?

Probably similar to the Union of Britain and Hannover IOTL really.

It's not going to lead to France and Spain uniting politically if that what you're leaning towards, since not only would their be opposition among the population of both coun tries (though far more in Spain than France), the rest of Europe simply would not allow it to happen.

France and Spain having been rivals and enemies for almost 2 centuries, your POD should be much earlier if you want this union to work.

If the Valois Netherlands had entirely been in the french sphere of influence after the death of Charles the bold, you can imagine an agreement between France and Aragon/Castile about Italy.

And a dynastic union between the female heir of the crowns of Castile/Aragon (be it Joan or someone else) and the heir of the crown of France instead as between Spain and Austria/Netherlands.

When did Spain become legally unified, rather than only held together by personal union, anyway?

OK you do know that a Personal union was NOT the goal of the war, right? The goal was to secure the entire Spanish inheritance for Philip V and the new Spanish House of Bourbon. Even if they won the war there would NEVER be a personal Union. Louis XIV himself even acknowledged this. If those above him died and Philip V became the Dauphin he was to renounce Spain to his brother the Duc de Berri to keep a union from happening. Though it would probably go better with Berri to France. Anyway, there was still OTL's Louis XV between Philip and France. Not to mention a French Victory would no doubt butterfly the early deaths of at least one of those ahead of Philip. Either the Grand or Petit Dauphins, perhaps even le Petit Dauphin's oldest son. Either way we would NOT see a union between Spain and France.

Who would be that one monarch?

Even if Louis XIV fully won the war (he won, I believe, but not fully), his heir is still Philip V's older brother, the Duke of Burgundy, and his son, Louis XV.

Philip V only becomes king if Burgundy and all his heirs male died.

Did Louis XIV plan that they all die so there would be a personal union?
