Persian Empire Superpower.

Here the Persians defeat the Byzantine Emperor Heraclius, thereby preventing his reconquest of Asia Minor, Syria, and Egypt, which the Persians had conquered some decades earlier. The Byzantine Empire is now reduced to it's European possessions. Upon the rise of Islam, the Arabs confront a much stronger Persian empire and are defeated. The Persians either completely occupy the Arabian peninsula, or set up a puppet government there. What eventually happens, especially when the Persian empire begins to decline? How especially does Egypt develop under Persian rule? Does it eventually become independent? Thougts?

I reckon Islam is butterflied or if it exists in its more or less historical form, it will probably remain a religion restricted to the Arabs, at least in the beginning. Persia I don't think would be able to hold on to those territories for much longer. The Byzantines will eventually recover some of its lands.

Wouldn't it be harder for the Persians to hold onto their recently conquered territories than it would be for the Byzantines to defend territories that were theirs for a long time? There's going to be a lot of Greeks under Persian control who might help the Muslims in their invasion...

Or the Byzantines who just happen to be next door.

Either way, I would think that the Persians would have a difficult time holding on to their conquests, maybe even more so than the Romans in OTL.
