Here the Persians defeat the Byzantine Emperor Heraclius, thereby preventing his reconquest of Asia Minor, Syria, and Egypt, which the Persians had conquered some decades earlier. The Byzantine Empire is now reduced to it's European possessions. Upon the rise of Islam, the Arabs confront a much stronger Persian empire and are defeated. The Persians either completely occupy the Arabian peninsula, or set up a puppet government there. What eventually happens, especially when the Persian empire begins to decline?
