Pearl Harbour prepared!

The Nevada got moving a whole lot faster then anyone thought it could. I do believe if you could get a 2 hr warning out then all the BBs would make it out of the channel and into the open. If you make it 90 minutes they are all moving out of the channel.
My personal idea is that if the warning is only an hour how long does it take to rig the anti torpedo netting for the outboard BB's?

I think you've mistaken me. I don't doubt the ability to carry, just the designator "B-40", which would only apply to something like a B-25; the A-17 & A-24, for instance, were both 1-engine.

That is an inofficial one. In OTL China based units that put a 2,000 pounder under their planes called them "B"-40.

I still don't follow why it's an O-47 & not a recce B-17 or PBY....

PBYs are in the south and Army aviators had severe problems with navigation over the sea. It´s quite possible they would have been overlooked that far out.

Hmm... Now that you mention it, I do recall reading that someplace.

That makes sense. Thanks.

As today is December 7th, I thought it appropriate to bump to the board's attention this brilliant little piece of work by Markus from a couple years back. Enjoy.

Wait a moment, if the USN sorties out all its battleships why do they get butchered by the Japanese?
They would operate near Hawaii and should get air support + cover from the USAAF/USN. They are in blue water now, manuevering not anchored in Pearl Harbor with no turrets manned.
Surely they would suffer losses, but the Japanese would lose a lot of aircraft on their own too. The following battle of American CVs vs. Japanese CVs may mean even more losses for the Japanese who have by now expended many of their ammo, fuel and have had losses to AAA and US fighters operating out of Hawaii.
They would have to fight against the B17s which are virtually immune to the poorly armed Zeros. Plus there will be 3 US carriers out there, with their own fighters/bombers ready to fight.

Agreed, I think the Japanese might sink all the BBs with luck but probably not and certainly take a lot of damage. I think after sinking as many BBs as they can reasonably manage they head back to Japan. They have their major victory but trying to take on 3 CVs at that point would be pushing it.
