Greetings,

I have been reading Winston Churchill's 'The Second World War' and within it Churchill states that Hitler's rise to power may have been prevented, if the victors at Versailles had of created a Consitutional Monarchy, as opposed to the Weimar Republic. Regardless that is not the discussion I wished to open, what I would like some opinions on, is what a peace conference might look like if Germany was stalled indefinately in its invasion of France.

The POD need not go back far, perhaps the French do not rush forward to help the Belgiums but keep their reserves back within France. The POD is immaterial, the question of interest is the aftermath of a failed invasion. In such a scenario, is Hitler likely to be toppled or forced to come to peace? I cannot imagine a fight to the death this early in the piece, I imagine the military would intervene. If this is the case, would they find favour with a victorious Churchill's proposal to reinstate the German Monarchy (curtailed by a consitution based on the British system). Also what would happen to Austria, Poland, Czechslovakia, Denmark, Norway etc.

If the Allies do not have the strength to push on, but the Germans know they will eventually lose (and be at risk from a russian attack), would there be some concessions given to Germany? Would the banning of the Nazi party and annulment of Anschluss be integral to any peace? What would the post war world look like?

Thank you for your help, I apologise if this has been done before.
