PC/WI: UK intervenes in the 1877-1878 Russo-Turkish war

Is this plausible? Can the UK pull off something similar like they did in the Crimean War? And could the British-Ottoman alliance win?

Same reason the French and Sardinians joined the Crimean War. That said, I think they'd at least want to give the Russians a chance to back down peacefully, given that the Turkish atrocities against the Bulgarians tied Disraeli's hands, at his own admission. They'd need to do a lot better militarily, like be at Constantinople before the British have decided on a response, and then Disraeli panics, or something.

So the Russians have to do really well for Britain to decide to intervene?

Yup , given what the Ottomans had done ( and more importantly how the British press had reported it ) , only something as dangerous to British interests such as Russia on the verge of gaining control of the straits could cause action to be taken. Otherwise the British government would never get a vote past the house and in all likelihood fall due to public disgust.

I don't believe that to be the case. British public opinion was generally anti-Turk in the first part of the war, with memories of the Bulgarian Massacres still fresh in the minds of the British. It was only with the Ottoman Defense at Plevna that the image of the "Terrible Turk" was replaced in the minds of the British. Not for nothing was it referred to as the battle that saved Turkey in Europe. If anything is likely to get the British into the war, it would have to be further Ottoman defensive successes.
