I think you'd see France and others pile in as well. It wouldn't remain Britain-Turkey vs. Russia.

That said, I think they'd at least want to give the Russians a chance to back down peacefully, given that the Turkish atrocities against the Bulgarians tied Disraeli's hands, at his own admission. They'd need to do a lot better militarily, like be at Constantinople before the British have decided on a response, and then Disraeli panics, or something.

I don't believe that to be the case. British public opinion was generally anti-Turk in the first part of the war, with memories of the Bulgarian Massacres still fresh in the minds of the British. It was only with the Ottoman Defense at Plevna that the image of the "Terrible Turk" was replaced in the minds of the British. Not for nothing was it referred to as the battle that saved Turkey in Europe. If anything is likely to get the British into the war, it would have to be further Ottoman defensive successes.So the Russians have to do really well for Britain to decide to intervene?
