The State of Muskogee was a proto-state founded by the British-American loyalist adventurer William Bowles whose primary objective was uniting the native tribes of the southeastern US (Creek, Cherokee, Seminole, basically all who would later be expelled by Andrew Jackson) into a single state, perhaps to halt the expansion of the US into the area. In 1801, Bowles and chiefs friendly to his cause commenced their state-building attempt by attacking Spanish possessions in Florida, but were repulsed by Spanish authorities. As Britain had ceased hostilities with France and Spain per the Treaty of Amiens in 1802, they were obliged to stop what little support they had for the State of Muskogee, and the latter collapsed, the Seminoles abandoning the cause and Bowles being eventually arrested by the Spanish.
So, my question is: how can we have Bowles succeed in creating a lasting state under the Muskogee label?
Perhaps a delayed Peace of Amiens, due to a British debacle at Copenhagen in 1801?
