Apologies if this has been done before.

This thread should really be in pre-1900 as both sports stated to develope in the 1800's so again, apologies.

What would it take for Cricket to evolve into greater popularity than Baseball in the USA?

Would a 20/20 format help in this, as each game would last roughly the same, at around 3 and a half hours.

Regards filers.

Definitely needs a pre-1900 departure since (a) many early baseball stars began as cricket players and (b) by 1900, cricket in the US was largely relegated to a few clubs, located primarily in the greater Philadelphia area (e.g., the Merion Cricket Club on the Main Line).

As I understand it it became highly popular due to the Civil War. Lots of New York soldiers spread New York baseball rules around the US.

Cricket had been quite popular in the USA pre Civil War. Indeed the very first international cricket match was between USA and Canada.

The main way to get Cricket to succeed is for the ICC to allow America to compete internationally. But it being the Imperial Cricket Council (or whatever the last C stands for), they wouldn't allow the Americans to compete.
