PC/WI: Case Anton extended to Iberia

So in 1942 it was determined that Vichy France did not constitute an effective buffer against the allies and occupied the "Free Zone". Could this possibly have been expanded into an attempted invasion of Franco's Spain and Salazar's Portugal?* If so how long could Franco hold out, and how would the other Allies respond?

*yes this would probably be it's own follow up operation to Case Anton rather than part of it.

It would have hellish affect to German logistics. I don't think that even Hitler would had been stupid enough extend logisics so badly. And Mussolini might become paranoid when Germany is invading and occupying other fascist nations.

In 1942 Vichi France was occupied because it’s troops in North Africa had switched sides when American troops invaded. Vichi France had lost its value at that point in time and Germany saw no no more value in the existence of Vichi France. While Vichi has been subject to Germany since France’s surrender in 1940 but the Iberian peninsula were independent countries. (Neutral)

Movement into the Iberian peninsula would amount to invasion of both countries. These two countries had been neutral and while they might of leaned towards to Axis the arrival American troops in North Africa put any idea of supporting Axis away.
