PC/WI British built FORDS/HILLMAN/VAUXHALL & BL's sold in CANADA

Apart from Envoy Motors which sold renamed British built Vauxhall's, there was never a proper and serious attempt by British based companies to build and sell their cars in North America proper post-war.

What if British manufacturers BL, FORD, HILLMAN & VAUXHALL went full out to sell their motors in North America, not only that but set up assembly plants in Canada as well.

Would this be possible with the finance available at the time?

Also, if the Canadian built cars managed to get a total market share of 1% in the USA by the mid to late '60's, would it allow these companies to expand their sales in the USA after the 1960's & 70's oil shock's in the same way as Japanese companies did to increase their US market share?

Again, would US buyers also prefer to buy Canadian built British models instead of Japanese models thus starving the Japanese companies of sales?

Cheers filers
