PC/WI: A Spanish-Dutch War in Southeast Asia?

Would it have ever been plausible for the Spanish and Dutch to go to war with each other in Southeast Asia?

Basically, I am wondering if it is possible for the Spanish and Dutch to fight each other in Southeast Asia so that one of them--plus whatever allies there are--decisively defeats the other one and then gradually proceeds to unify Indonesia and the Philippines under a common flag.

Anyway, any thoughts on this?

I'd direct you to this thread I started a while back. :p

It already happened IOTL. The Eighty Years' War had an East Indies theater. It ended with the Dutch winning, but the Spanish keeping Manila.

A decisive victory on one side or another is another question entirely.

The Spaniards successfully getting a rendezvous with the Portuguese and defeating the VOC at Malacca would have crippled Dutch presence in the East Indies.

Sacking Manila at any time after the death of Juan de Silva, or effectively establishing a Dutch presence in Taiwan to blockade Manila, would have destroyed the Spanish presence in the East Indies.

I wanna see how I can play such scenario in my TL, wether on the Seven Years War or, as of currently, the War of Austrian Succession.
