PC: Victorious Germany in WWI eventually purchases Suriname?

The idea here is that Germany would want the colony both for its resources and as a settler colony; additionally when the time comes, it would make a great launching point for a German Space Program.

My idea is that when the Dutch East Indies eventually revolt, Germany offers support in exchange for Suriname.

Why would the DEI revolt? That is a separate POD. The Germans do already have equatorial colonies in Africa in any case.

Because they don't want anymore to be under Dutch thumb. Even without WW2 it was going to happen.

I don't see Germans buying Suriname. What they would do with that when them have already African colonies. And USA hardly would be happy if Germans come to play to their backyard.

Not any time soon. The Dutch were very successful at suppressing Indonesian independence movements. Without the Japanese invasion, there’s little likelihood of anything successful occurring before the 1960’s at least. Indonesia obviously would end up independent, but a trailblazer it was not.

My idea was that unlike those colonies in Africa, Suriname would be much easier to integrate. The Dutch easily could have kept them IOTL and the French did keep their Guiana.
