During the early post-war period , the UK was strapped for hard curreny and completely indebted to the United States.
So the scenario here is that given the deteriorating situation in China and the need for more US assistance (per OTL)
Coupled with Atlee's willingness to commit to some sort of financial deal to stave off the revaluation of the Pound Sterling (per OTL)
Is it plausible that an ATL, more China-Committed, Truman could use the opportunity to purchase Hong Kong between '45 - '49?
If so, how does it effect the Chinese Civil War, the economy of the UK, and possibly the military standing of the US in the region?
