PC:US-backed baathists vs Soviet-backed Nasserists

Could the US Exploit the division between the Nasserists and Baathists to pick up the Baathists as US clients

Say increased American arms sales to Iraq following the Ramadan coup and combined with Soviet aid to the Kurds and charges of genocide, Nasser's condemning of the Baath party , the killing of communists and possible american assistance against the November coup

Could the Baath party end up as american allies

What would be the impact on the middle east with the baath party as american clients

I don't know much about Middle Eastern politics in the 20th century (except with some more insight into Turkish and Iranian ones) but I do know that the USSR dumped Egypt after they lost the Yom Kippur War; perhaps have Egypt winning that war would in turn get the US into backing anti-Nasserist forces including those of the Ba'athists.

The Yom Kippur War started a decade after the Ramadan Revolution.

It was the other way around and the Yom Kipper was intended for Egypt to regain the Sinai and switch to the US

If the Baath party was us clients would they pick up capitalist traits or start espousing support for capitialism similar to what happened to Unita
