PC:Syria and Iraq Merge 1963 , Would the Baath Party Surpass Nasser as leader of pan-arab movenment

Say crush or no 1963 November coup

Would the Baath party be able to establish itself as leader the of the pan-Arabism in the event of an iraq-syria merger

How much more popular would the Baath party be in this scenario outside of Syria and Iraq

Would this encourage Nasser to try union with more Arab nations or get more heavily involved in Yemen or attack Israel

Probably not a good plan.

The Syrian leadership was, by & large, unequal to the task. The history of the UAR and post UAR Syria IOTL sort of demonstrates that.

Syria, of all the countries in the region, seems to have rolled snake eyes most consistently when it comes to national leadership, although Iraq is in the running. Putting the two together is sort of dysfunction squared.
