PC: Sybirak Nation?

...wow, wiki has no article on Siberians (actual Sibiryaki), and instead has an article on Poles-exiled-to-Siberia-for-learning-about-their-culture, complete with pictures and everything.

It's just almost too stereotypical to be true.

You mean, like this page, with links to individual pages on various different Siberian peoples?

Absolutely not like that one; those are "Indigenous small-numbered peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East" i.e. Siberian First Nations, or the equivalent of.

Sibiryaki are Russophone European settlers, who also have a long and complex history. Some of the tiny sub-ethnic groups are covered by individual articles, but no overall article exists, which is exactly my point. :eyeroll:

There really should be a wiki article on them, they have a longer history than Anglo-American settlers of the West.

Alright, fair enough. I see what you're getting at.

(Although, aren't most inhabitants of Siberia of Russian descent? Wouldn't it be a bit like a page on "American settlers beyond the Mississippi," or "Brazilian settlers in the Amazon?" Large enough that it would be better covered in articles on smaller areas--states or oblasts or whatnot?)

Well, the term actually does exist, both in the broad and narrow senses, so I guess it's kinda wiki-worthy that way. Moreover, many early communities were self-contained for religious or cultural reasons, interacting only nominally with the Cossasks and various other service people well into the 19th c.

Anyway, I apologise if it came across as a nationalistic gripe. Wiki reflects what the most energetic wiki editors care about and no more, as unbalanced as the final result may appear.

Oh don't whine, at least you've got wiki article about:

"Sibirjak, Novosibirsk-Moscow-Berlin express train"

:D ;)

While this is riveting, is there any thoughts on the actual question of the thread?

The scenario is unlikely. They'd be surrounded by Russian territory, have no foreign support, not enough manpower, they'd also be a very poor country. In general, it'd be a long revolt that is eventually crushed, at best.
