Dependent on a 1919 or later period, what are some points in American history could there plausibly be a civil war?
Not possible in a world with a Soviet Union.
Agreed. If the nonviolent voices of MLK and Thurgood Marshall are silenced early on (lets say the late fifties or, max, early sixties) and a more traditional Democrat is elected in 1960 other than Kennedy, then I think Black Panther-type voices would be more common and mainstreamed. This would give the Bull Connor wing a justification to crack down further with the support of the American people against the violence. I could see a spiraling out of control if everything fell into place exactly right - or wrong, in this caseAlluding to what @Lalli said the last time period in the 20th century you could get a Civil War is a Civil Rights Movement that goes very very wrong. It wouldn't look like the First or a 1930s civil war though. Picture multiple ongoing insurgencies, the South under military occupation again, the inner cities under military occupation, extreme white flight to gated suburbs and a Federal Government that goes into bunker mode after multiple assassinations.
When Obama was elected there was talk about secession, and now with Trump there seems to be even more aggressiveness around, compared with the 1980s and 1990s.Dependent on a 1919 or later period, what are some points in American history could there plausibly be a civil war?
