PC:large scale Indian settlement in Africa

Would large scale Indian settlement in British Africa be possible

Could the coolie system serve as a basis of large scale Indian settlement

Whats highest possible Indian population in the various British Colonies

What would be the impact

Perhaps a sort of de facto racial hierarchy would develop, with Indians somewhere in the middle, between Europeans at the top and Africans at the bottom. This is more or less how it often played out IOTL, for example South Africa during Apartheid.

I'm not sure how you would make this happen though, whether by voluntary migration or by forcefully dumping indentured laborers from Asia onto Africa. The British would have to (economically?) rationalize the idea of sending millions of non-white people to fill up other distant colonies, in far greater numbers than they intended (or wanted).

Could Indians end up at the top with independence ?

Could they view the Indians as more productive and import them as a way increasing the value of their African colonies?

I dunno, while Indians did find some political and economic success in post-colonial Africa, it wouldn't take much for their fortunes to fail, especially in regards to racial conflict with Africans (see Zanzibar and Uganda).

I doubt if British colonial authorities would really be interested in allowing an Indian ruling class to develop, as they would likely prefer establishing white minority rule first (like South Africa or Rhodesia). It's not like the white imperialists really respected brown people that much over black people, except in regards to their divide-and-rule strategy.

Could some colonial administrator decide to establish Asian elephants in Africa as working animals?
That would be a good reason to bring lots of people who know how to work with them.

Wouldn't an Indian ruling class be a logical outcome in area without a white population.

No, Indians in Africa would be similar to Jews in ME or Chinese in SEAsia, rich middle-class minority that would be disliked immensely by natives. When white rule collapsed, they would be expelled, look at Uganda example.
