PC: Kornilov takes Petrograd?

I had this idea:

Kornilov takes Petrograd with his troops but eventually, that unites Provisional Government and Bolsheviks, he is expelled from the city after a tough fight and the Germans decide to move deeper into Russia, however, Russian army adopts another doctrine in an attempt to wear off the Germans as they did with Napoleonic army.

They manage to retreat and counterattack successfully, making the Germans bleed and keeping at least some prestige, but it doesn't matter as the chaos in capital causes some soldiers to leave back to their homes.

Lenin is killed during the retreat of Kornilov's men and the struggle between Kamenev and Zinoviev starts.
Someone in the Russian army notices the chaos that is spreading and decides to help the government, Bolsheviks are going through a total chaos and the officers start to "reflex" about the future of Russia.

Perhaps this events cause an earlier civil war, but, are they plausible or completely ASB?

Can someone help me with this?
Thanks in advance!

One more thing, I would prefer a "White-led" Russia in this scenario or at least a democratic regime.

Evidence of the Kornilov Affair suggests that the new head of the armed forces was acting on the invitation of Kerensky, before the latter got cold feet and called out the resistance (including the Red Army) to defy him. As such, Kornilov taking over the government was not really in the running as was being assumed at the time.

I appreciate your help, uhm, then...
What if bolsheviks and socialists believe he is trying to overthrow the government and an uprising occurs?
Kerensky would eventually side with him or the socialists and Bolsheviks?

They did OTL, and Kerensky sided with the uprising... to his detriment, as we all know.

If kornilov attacks when he did and destroys the Petrograd soviet there will be a civil war

However if he attacks the Soviet and he can't take the city.... There will still be a civil war

The Russian army by August had practically collapsed and this will put the final nail in the coffin, German advance will probably be about as successful as it was OTL in early 1918.

If you want the Russian army to be able to retreat well and use a different doctrine you need a different pod.

Even if Lenin is killed the Bolsheviks by that point are going to try and overthrow whatever is left after the coup attempt. If Lenin isn't there, Trotsky will do it, or sverdlov, or any number of bolsehviks.

This could make an early civil war with whites victorious.

Without Lenin, Bolsheviks and other socialists, moderates, will unify around the Constituent Assembly, which will be led by the Socialist-Revolutionary Party. The Whites may be brought into the new parliamentary government relatively rapidly except for a few holdouts.

Maybe if Lenin died earlier in the year before the April thesis but by August he had the party's support for an uprising.
A massacre in Petrograd would have made an even greater desire within Bolsheviks to take power and a desire for revenge.
