PC: Irish Monarchy after 1921?

I wouldn't overstate the popularity of the monarchy or the Union because of support for Home Rule.

Home Rule was advanced as the freedom to achieve freedom without violence.

Remember Parnell's (slightly paraphrased because I'm on my phone) view on it.

"No man may set the bar on a nation's freedom. Say you may advance this far and no further "

Hardly the words of someone advocating for devolution as he end of Irish aspirations.

And let's not forget, his father had just lost his existing crown in the 1918 German Revolution! Of course, calling in a German prince just after the war - and one who'd served in the army at that - would annoy the British even more...

Yes, it's totally implausible, but if you had to invite a German prince to be King of Ireland, he'd be the most logical person to choose. Though monarchy often tends to defy logic.

Without a doubt Prince Rupprecht is an interesting person. The family is related to the Stuarts. His ancestory actually fought in the English Civil War. Widely respected in his native Bavaria and even Germany. Unlike the Kaiser and his son he was respected by the British Having said that I'm not sure how much support it would get in Ireland.
