PC: Far Right Russia

What are the chances of Russia going far right instead of left after the 1905 revolution?

Depends on how long after 1905 you want Russia to be Right Wing. I mean, Russia currently is pretty much heading there at this very moment, with Putinmania and all...

The Reds, SR's, moderates, anarchists, and everyone else fucks up horribly, and the Black Hundredists somehow end up taking over?

I had a TL in mind where the tunguska meteor hits St. Petersburg, the result is that a strong religious movement arises due to the perception that both the meteor impact coupled with the later outbreak of the spanish flu is a sign of divine displeasure at the Russian aristocracy and Russian orthodox clergy which eventually leads to Russia turning into a hard line theocratic empire.

I had an abortive TL (due to lack of research) based on the idea that, in 1911, instead of killing the then-PM, a socialist/Jewish revolutionary murders the Tsar, provoking massive political conflict (since Nicholas II's son was just a child) and leading to the creation of a nationalist, right-wing organization with support from former tsarist officials and the clergy. After Russia does even more poorly in the Great War under the leadership of a weak temporary government, the "Nashiists" ("Nashi" meaning "ours", its the name I came up with for the nationalist organization) successfully blame the failure on socialist/anarchist insurrection for making Russia weak and unstable, and then are able to fight and win the civil war against the Bolsheviks.

An interesting butterfly would be for Germany not to lose the Great War outright, but sign an uneasy ceasefire with the Entente nations. A strong Germany would give the Russian nationalists fuel for their cause.

Denikin doesn't waste his forces to pursue Makhno's raiders and goes on to trounce the Reds at Oryol in October of 1919. White victories so close to Moscow means that Trotsky doesn't go to Petrograd with reinforcements and it falls to Yudenich. Meanwhile, Miller's still hunkered down in Arkhangelsk and Kolchak is desperately trying to regroup at Omsk in the wake of the Reds breaking through the Tobol-Ishim line. That being said, Tukhachevsky is up a creek once Moscow falls.

At this point it is important to consider what the Whites decide to do; sit down and sort things out amongst themselves, or go for Poland before the latter gets too strong. (My money's on Denikin wanting his hometown back under his jurisdiction, and it would only increase his clout).

The Whites will eventually convoke a Zemsky Sobor and pick Grand Prince Nicholas as the new tsar. Denikin becomes a big-dog in the army and serves as one of the main figureheads of the far-right. Kolchak probably gets the job of rebuilding the navy while people like Wrangel, the Pepelyayevs and what Kadets are left try and form some sort of government.

There will probably be a Duma, but I the situation will probably resemble pre-fascist Italy more than anything else; a political military, weak civil institutions, a restive peasantry, a monarch and military who are not answerable to a legislature, inordinate amounts of clerical power and influence, regional strongmen, etc.

Bump. What are the chances that the Blackhundredists can take power?
Pretty low. Unless they start presenting a program involves more than just blaming Jews and socialists and liberals for all of Russia's woes, the Chernosotyentsy will remain little more than a stale hate-group.

Now movements like Mladorossi might be able to make some headway, especially if Grand Prince Kyrill supports them as he did IOTL...

Isn't Absolute Monarchy quite far right. Just have the 1905 revolution suppressed early and brutally, and we might see Absolutism thrive for longer than OTL.

Ed Thomas, in Fight and be Right, has an earlier and hence somewhat less severe *1905 - and the timely death of Nick, to be replaced by Grand Duke Sergei as Scheming Regent - lead the tsarist regime down a more certain path of repression, nationalism, and political self-promotion through the church, rather in the vein of Franco.

I read through it... why'd you abandon it? It looked so promising...

Because I realized that I really only had enough historical knowledge about a few subjects out of the many relevant ones, and not enough about the rest. For example, I know quite a bit about the general workings of the major socialist movements and the way wars are fought, but I was very lacking in knowledge when it came to things like the historical reasons and leanings of the western powers that gave rise to the WW1-era alliances, the European/Slavic religious/royal tradition, and things like that, all of which are important for the prospective TL to work. What you read was pretty much the most that I was confident enough about to write.

If you're really enthusiastic about seeing my TL come to fruition, I can offer you some solace: I am starting college and will be forced to learn about things that will help me get a better general idea of the historical situation, as well as provide me with a lot of documents that I need.

EDIT: Keep checking the Nashiist Russia Thread. I may accidentally update it soon. :)
