PC: Earlier Ausgleich

This has been at the back of my head for a while now.

How early can the Ausgleich happen? I've seen ideas that it could potentially have happened in 1848, if the Hungarians successfully take Vienna or the revolutions are more widespread in Austria.

But what if we go a bit more back? Maybe during Napoleon's invasion of Austria? Napoleon offered freedom to the Hungarian nobility, but they refused, instead supporting the Habsburgs and getting trashed for their trouble at the Battle of Raab. What if they had some conditions for their support?

Could maybe Rakoczi's Rebellion lead to an alt-Ausgleich?

Perhaps if Napoleon gives the Hungarians independence, but the coalition still wins. So the Austrians annex Hungary, but give them concessions to keep them on board.

In this case I think they would just oppress them. But they might neuter the Hungarian nobility, which is a boon to Hungary in any case.

What exactly do you mean by Ausgleich?

For a civic government to form in Hungary, you either need an earlier and more developed Hungary, or some more radical and successful diet(s) in the 1830's or early 40's

If you want to replace the personal union between Austria and Hungary with a real union, then the earliest possible date is really 1848.

A creation of an A-H like in OTL, but perhaps some terms may differ, such as having three armies, etc.
