PC: Communist Revolution in a surviving CSA?

I know its a trope of the Timeline 191 series, but would it be possible for a Communist revolution to take place in the Confederacy if it had managed to survive longer?

Not in the whole Confederacy but there were certainly revolutionaries in the Black Belt of Georgia and South Carolina.

There's been quite a bit of stuff from thekingsguard on this subject:

Just for starters. There's several other supplementary threads around for worldbuilding. Basically his premise is that the CSA would be impoverished from the start, but only really gets to being a quasi-failed state after its cotton crop gets devastated by the Boll Weevil. That plus losing to the US in an alt-WWI leads to the remnants of the CSA going Communist.

Link to any of the published stories he's done? I liked reading the second one, but I'm trying to multi-task about four other things right now and aren't keen on trying to skim through the first links 16 pages any of the actual story stuff.

The CSA would probably find itself getting reincorporated into the US if it gets unstable enough for a Communist Revolution.

Nothing formally published yet I'm afraid, but I mean to fix that soon - I'm wrapping up a short story about an old hand on the Underground Railroad post-Revolution smuggling people out of the CSSA.

I think a Maoist-style peasant rebellion would be possible. The US would probably annex the Upper South while this was going on. In the long run, it would put the US in the interesting position of having a communist state as an ally/protectorate.
