PC: British Heligoland Post-WW2

A little something dawned on me when I thought about Heligoland...

Heligoland was a British possesion from 1814 till 1890 and after World War II it was under British control again until 1952. Could the British have demanded Heligoland as a permant annexiation? Would it eventually be resettled like OTL or would it become a shooting range (the British Bang comes to mind)? If it became resettled, could it possibly become a crown dependency?

Wasn't it already agreed at Odessa, Cairo, and Potsdam that the western Allies would not make any territorial gains after victory?

Well... the Soviet Union annexed like crazy why wouldn't the Western Allies have a small slice of the pie?
IOTL the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands was taken from Japan and entrusted to the US. Part of it (the Northern Mariana Islands) still belongs to the US.

A case could be made that Heligoland was voluntarily given by Britain to Germany in 1890, and that Germany's behavior during WW2 warrants getting back territory that was originally British.

Iserlohn said the French tried to detach the saar from Germany. Well that wasn't the only territorial desire of the allies. There were some in Britain who wanted to recreate the Kingdom of Hanover (northwest Germany)

I don't see why Britain couldn't annex Heligoland. It was just one island off the coast of Germany. Its not like Britain was seeking to annes its occupational zone of Germany. In comparison to Stalin's annexations, taking Heligoland is paltry.

Heligoland could be a great base for the allies during the Cold War. Perhaps the island could be used as a takeoff point for NATO bombers and fighters?

Wishing you well, his majesty,
The Scandinavian Emperor
