Given the apparent recent popularity of Beetroot Ketchup, curious to know whether this unique condiment could have appeared much earlier in a similar manner to how Banana ketchup was said to have been created in the Philippines in WW2 due to a Tomato shortage or how "Macon" (cured and smoked Mutton version of Bacon) was mass produced in the UK during WW2 when rationing was instituted?
Also partly had Red Velvet Cake in mind since Beet Juice was used to enhance the color of their cakes (and even found in some red velvet cake recipes beforehand) as a result of rationing in WW2. The fact that Beet Juice was used in Red Velvet Cake and possibly used in other recipes in WW2 would suggest there was an apparent abundance of Beetroot in certain countries during this period, which would have potentially led to the invention of Beetroot Ketchup.
