PC and WI: Papal Corsica

Gone Fishin'
What if the Papacy assumes direct administration of Corsica rather than delegating it to Pisa, Genova, and Aragon? Is this feasible? Is there any precedent? What are the butterflies for the aforementioned states and France? What happens to Corsican nationalism? What is the first Enlightenment constitution instead (assuming the Enlightenment still occurs)?

It's certainly feasible. Many papal territories enjoyed a significant autonomy IOTL - that should go well with Corsica.

I think the main impact on history is that ITTL the pope can always flee for Corsica to be save from the Holy Roman Emperor or the French king or whomever has an interest in the or Rome.

That is plausible, and could work. Well, could work as long one of the maritime cities of Italy declares this is over and take Corsica for itself.
