PC and WI : A Scandinavian Union after the Napoleonic Wars?

I have some schoolwork to do on the Napoleonic Empire at its height. I was looking into Frederick VI of Denmark's data to document myself on the Franco-Danish alliance when I discovered that he was candidate to be the heir of Charles XIII but lost to Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte.

How are the chances that Frederick could get chosen as Prince of Sweden instead of Bernadotte?
And if Frederick VI of Denamrk was chosen as Charles XIII's heir, what would be the consequences?

There's this possibility which does sort of work but I'm not sure why it was decilned apart from traditional enmity, especially as the houses were related. There's also the possibility being floated around in the 1850s that Sweden would inherit Denmark because the danish house of Oldenburg was thought to be going on to become extinct, and there was no way the danish would have tolerated the duke of Augustenburg on the throne.

He was apparently a bit too reactionary for the Swedish constituent assembly's tastes.
While this would cause a delayed union, there apparently was a plan for Charles August - the original crown prince elected, the one that died - to adopt the future Christian VIII of Denmark. That would mean that if Charles August death was delayed to after that of Charles XIII, there would be a union of crowns...
