Help wanted. Not sure if this is totally feasible but it's worth a shot as it's an interesting scenario...
The POD is Russia failing to subdue the territories east of the Urals and an over zealously expansionistic Persia has a go, successfully conquering Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, most of Siberia, and possibly more of Central Asia that in OTL went Russian.
However, overextended the Persians leave themselves open to conquest by an alliance of the Ottoman Empire and the Mughal Empire who jointly seize most of modern day Iran and split it between themselves (a map might be useful here. Help?).
This leaves Persia with only territory they did not hold OTL at all to my knowledge, a Persia with little to no Persian territory. A frozen Persia.
When Russia tries for round two in the late 16th or early 17th Century it is more successful, conquering and colonizing a semi-Persianized Central Asia and Siberia.
Persia either ceases to exist or there's a small Persian rump, not sure.
Anyway, is this feasible at all and if so anyone got any ideas for this?
