PC - A White Russian Mongolia?

I'm reading Beasts, Men and Gods by Ferdinand Ossendowski, and it got me wondering - was there any chance that the Whites might have managed to conquer Mongolia as a sort of Taiwan equivalent? Say someone a bit less loony tunes than Ungern Sternberg emerges to rally what's left of the Whites at that point, and drives out both the Reds and the Chinese to create a White bastion. How long could such a thing survive between a definitely hostile USSR and a presumably hostile China, not to mention the Mongolians themselves?

Not much, because I doubt you'd see much immigration, and Mongolia is pretty much sandwiched between Russia and China. Taiwan had the benefit of being an island.

True enough, but China is a bit unsettled at this point. Would any of the northern warlords go on Mongolian adventures?

I wonder - is there any way to keep the Japanese involved in propping up White remnants? They abandoned Siberia and the Russian Far East, but maybe they take a different line towards Mongolia... somehow...?

The reds propped up white Russians in Xinjiang. Could happen in Mongolia too...though probably only temporarily.

I'm certainly not qualified to give a definitive answer, but I would think that if the Reds thought that this Tsarist Mongolia posed a threat, they would immediately pounce.

How would Japan even access Mongolia to give it any sort of aid? I could see Japan giving a Far East Tsarist Russia some aid, but Mongolia is pretty much within Moscow's grasp, methinks.

Source? That sounds really interesting.
