PC: A Carnation Revolution in a surviving fascist Italy

Say Italy remains neutral during world war 2

Could something like the Carnation Revolution occur during the 1970s or 1980s in a surviving fascist Italy due to rebellions in the colonies.

Probably and might happen even earlier. Fascist system hardly lives much longer than Mussolini.

Mussolini and fascist probably are good if they keep control enough until oil and settlement takes off in Libya. That oil allows Mussolini to basically bribe the population at home of being content(Milan and Venice would being building stuff like the gulf oil nations). Libya would be majority Italian decade after oil is discovered. That could get large amounts of US investment especially if some Italian American population is attracted to oil money and living in Libya. Libya was Italy secret path to relevancy on world stage. Gaddafi was able to fund revolutions and rebels across much of the world. That’s why he was so well known in Africa and Latin America. Imagine what Mussolini and fascist Italy would do with that money. They might be US leaning but not the most trustworthy ally. Italy with colonies isn’t Portugal.
