PC: ‘Plan X, Y or Z’ Sealion?

OK, so, the Germans build a shitload of planes capable of carrying huge amounts of dirt, then they do a mass fly-over of the Channel, dumping their loads all at once, and filling it in. Then, while everyone in Britain is saying, "Fuck you, that's the stupidest idea yet", the German panzers shoot across the new land bridge, and overrun the UK.

Adolf Mcgiver would approve this plan.

I'm going to say it again.

"The mythical one where the UK Conservative Party - which has been preparing for war since 1935 - suddenly decides to surrender because they've run out of allies on the Continent ?"

Remember, five hundred years of English policy has been to prevent the development of a single power that dominates Europe.

Peace with Germany in 1940 means accepting a single power that dominates Europe.
Britain made peace with Napoleon. They can make one with Hitler in 40. Not talking a forever peace peace but let’s buy some time and breathing room. Wait for an opening to jump back in kind of peace. In 1940 Hitler is probably not considered any worse than Bonaparte was in his day. He is just another tyrant bent on domination. Many things are highly unlikely and happen. Sealion being successful 1 in 100, 1 in a 1000, in a million? What were the odds of the 9/11 attacks being successful? Pearl Harbir being successful? what were the odds of Germany defeating France in a month? What are the odds of the on the first day the Long March started that Mao and the communists would rule the mainland. What were the odds that either Hitler or Stalin would be the ruler of the nations? Odds of successful German invasion or Britain or a peace deal, slim but stranger shit has happened

Briefly, your examples are forces doing things they are good at. Pearl Harbour was the IJN's aircraft carriers doing a strike on a port. The German Army has a long history of ground offensives. The Long March is Communists moving around and playing a long game. 9/11 was using aircraft in a way they'd been used before.

The total German experience in conducting amphibious operations designed to support a sustained campaign was zero. They hadn't even done Dieppe-type raids, or been part of an unsuccessful Gallipoli. They were doing this outnumbered perhaps 10:1 on the water, using a brand new doctrine that used improvised landing ships.

And the minimum price of an unsuccessful Sealion is giving the British a desperately needed win.

my point is not to defend the plausibilty of Un names sea mammal. My point is these were all things that were gambles and risks that most would have said if they failed that of course they failed there was little hope of it happening. Just as there are times where everyone says there no chance of XYZ happening and it happens. The statement that Britain would never make a deal that leaves someone in control of the continent as it’s been their policy for hundreds of years is false as they did it with Napoleon. If someone wrote and AH In today’s time of a world where their was no Nazi-Soviet Pact and had a Nazi soviet Pact in their story so many would be saying it’s impossible. They never would. All I am saying is weird shit happens that no one can understand or believe or see coming
