Paul Is Dead

Just some things I want to say before I get underway.
First of all I am going to "save" some of Paul's songs post 1966. The following in this timeline were recorded prior to Paul's death. "Penny Lane" "Getting Better" "Lovely Rita" "Your Mother Should Know" "She's Leaving Home" The Paul bit of "A Day in the life" "Rocky Raccoon" "Blackbird" and finally "Her majesty" These songs will appear on subsequent albums
"The Fool on the Hill" Will be written by Lennon in tribute to Paul. "After all in my namesake song he does sing "I told about the fool on the hill"
"Back In the USSR" will be written by Lennon as it fits his style of Lyricism
In this timeline there really is a William Campbell/
Oh Darling is also a John song in this timeline. (Fits his style more than Paul's anyway)
Finnally Lennon also composes two of us another tribute to Paul
He writes "Birthday" (A angry response to comparisons between him and the late McCartney) "She Came in through the Window" "You Never Give Me Your Money" and "Let it Be" He also writes "Live and Let Die"

Here's a album I see the Beatles releasing in this timeline
In 1967 they release an album dedicated to Paul entitled Strawberry Fields Forever
The track list is as follows Strawberry Fields Forever, Your Mother Should Know, She's Leaving Home, Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds, Being For the Benefit of Mr. Kite. With A little Help from my friends (In otl Lennon was said ro have written the lyircs so its not a stretch to have saved it)Lovely Rita, Getting Better, Blue Jay, Way, I am the Walrus, Within You Without You, Good Morning Good Morning, A Day In the Life. I've listened to the track list and I really like it personally. It would also be a concept album
SFF would be the opening song just a way of describing the emmotinal state of the main charector. Your Mother Should Know repersents a repermand to obey one's parents. That is violated as the actual story begins with She's Leaving Home. That song shows a girl leaving home. Lucy in the Sky with diamonds repersents her out in the world and also when a muscian first see's her Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite is the girl (Let's call her Rita) Looking at an advitisement for the muscian's show. Lovely Rita is their first date Getting Better is how the muscician is feeling. Blue Jay Way is a friend hearing that they are lost. Then there is a car crash and the chaos that follows is repersented by I am the Walrus. Within you Without You repersents the muscicians friends hearing About the death. Good Morning is A description of his final hours. A Day in the life is someone reading about it in the paper

Not Nesscarily, as I recall that song was mainly written by Denny Laine and finished by Paul. In Atl it could end up as a Denny Laine Song

I Would miss Hey Jude and The Band On Run Album (The only McCartney Solo album I like. I'm a Lennophile through and through) More than that song anyway. Maybe BOTHR is a Campbell album? (I see him leaving the group in 68 replaced by Klauss Voreman)

I think your thinking of the end of "I'm So Tired" Which says "Paul is dead man, miss him miss him miss him. If you play it backwards

Also in this timeline McCartney would have a much better legacy. Remember the last album released was Revolver which in my opinion was one of Paul's high points in the Beatle years. The others were pepper and Abbey road. I think the Beatles history would probably be divided between the McCartney and post McCartney years. Do you see Jane Asher acting like Yoko Ono after Lennon's death and try to control Paul's legacy. Also will we ever hear of Linda Eastman? I think not. I also see John Lennon marrying Yoko Ono a whole lot faster.
PS If I try to make a timeline would anybody be willing to help me out?

I don't know if you;re in the UK, but there was a very good Radio 4 programme on last w/e about John Lennon, featuring period interviews with him about his relationship with Paul. Strangely enough, it was on in the morning. Probably be on the "listen again" section.

No I'm an American. I wish I could have heard it. Than again being such a Lennophile maybe I've heard the interviews before.

Well, luckily for you (and lots of people who've emigrated) the Beeb now puts its radio programmes from the past week on an online service accessible from the BBC website.

Alright I'm going to start it now
In the early hours of the third of October Paul McCartney was busy driving around Lodon. He had spent the previous month recording all the songs he had written during the American tour. The previous day he had listened to what would be the last song completed while he was alive. Shortly after Revolver was recorded the band had quickly recorded "Getting Better" with the intent of releasing it as a winter single. After having listened to it he calls Lennon to inform him of the songs completion. Lennon being in a bad mood yells at McCartney. Distraught by his conversation with Lennon the previous day McCartney fails to notice a changing Light. He is struck by an oncoming car. the crash pushes his car into a pole and results in McCartney sustaining Major head injuries. He was killed instantly Brian Epstein was informed of the death fifteen minutes after it occurred. He decides to inform the other Beatles about what has happened. He first calls George, and then calls Lennon who famously responds "It should have been me!" (that statement is a counterpoint to the "drag isn't" statement Paul made when John died) John flys from Spain for an emergency meeting of the other Beatles. They decide after much disccusion to continue with a new bassist. The band asks Epstein to find possible replacements to audition. The next day word of Pauls death was on headlines all over the world. The Beatles hold a press conference declaring their intention to stay together. "It's what Paul would have wanted" says George. To be continued any complaints or ideas to help it along?

Paul McCartney's funeral is held on October 15. In attendence is a who's who of the music world. Everyone from Mick Jagger to Brian Wilson is in attedence. About a week later Epstein recieves a call from an aspiring bassist named William Campbell a former canadian police officer who has relocated to London. Epstein allows him to audition. It is attended by John Lennon, Brian Epstein and George Martin. He is asked to sing "Yesterday" and play the base line for And Your Bird Can Sing. At the end of the audition Lennon turns to Epstein and says "Thats the one I want him in the band!" and on Halloween 1966 William S. Campbell joins the biggest band in the world.
