Partition of Germany after WW-II

If the Allied, after the WW-II had decided to divide the Germany in several states (more that East and Ovest Germany of OTL) how many "new" Germany nations could arise?
And were possible put some old Geman prince as King or GrandDuke of these States?

Historically we had 4 that turned into 2. Really so long as the Cold War was going to happen you'd condense it back into 2 because Germany was a state and it wasn't going away, especially as it was too economically important as a unified state to turn back into the HRE.

Any such attempts would have been redone very fast. Indeed if they did this way they would have needed occupation forces to avoid that. Or another war. Both they didn't want to.

There were proposals from 3 to 5 seperate states on the territory of Germany proper (borders of 1919) together with some wishes of territorial expansion by France (Saar-Region), Belgium and even the Netherlands (no joke).

In the - preliminary - end the 'just' created 4 zones of occupation with changing (over time as well the different occupation zones) degrees of civil self-management, until a 'final' solution might be found.
As stated above : Cold war braought the 'final' solution in form of 2 states.

About reintroducing aristocraty : really only some very few side thoughts at the very first internal talk (like a renewed Kingdom of Hannover or Saxony), mostly used to give the regions a name familiar to the 'older' politicians.
